“Lovely again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We stayed here 3 years ago and we were not disappointed this time either. Well set up good rooms, conveniently situated near e centre, of town. Unfortunately Helene was unwell while we were there but Jean Michel looked after us beautifully. Breakfast in the pretty garden is lovely.
Great value

What can I say? Lovely Jardin room, great breakfasts, nothing is too much trouble - and ll this for 70 Euros a night?! Helene and Jean-Michel should really put their prices up!

They offer two rooms, both very spacious. Ours had an extra single room which was handy when I woke early and wanted to use my laptop for emails. Wifi reception was a bit variable due to thickness of the old walls, but perfectly OK.

Breakfasts started with bowl of fruit cocktail, then cereals, fresh bread/croissants/pain au chocolate etc. Juice etc. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which is quite unusual outside UK. The main thing was that nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Oh, and the location is just along the main street from the centre of Chinon so very local.

One slight caution is that the SatNav in the rented Peugeot took us down some very small strets into somewhere 100 feet or so away, so my advice is to look on a Google map rather than rely on your SatNav!

Couldn't be better.

We stayed in the jardin room for two nights in June 2013 and it was just great.

Large comfy room, nice view over the garden, Helene was really helpful and breakfast was great.

It's right in the centre of the town and we were able to use her garage.

Price at 70eu was really good as well.

All in all well worth the 5 stars it has been getting.

Spent two nights in the garden room. Loads of space in the main bedroom and there's another single room, too. The garden is enclosed by a wall so is nice and secluded and sheltered so perfect for just sitting and relaxing. It's about a 2 or 2 minute walk to the marketplace and it only took about five minutes to walk to the tourist office and restaurants etc. There's also a tasting place for a local vineyard 50 yards along the road.

The owners are very friendly and helpful, too. A fantastic, good value option.

We have just spent four days (May 2013) in the garden room and it is superb. The hosts are lovely and provide a beautiful breakfast and then they don't bother you again. If you want more information they are most helpful. The bedroom was beautiful and very tasteful. If you like a little French charm, this is highly recommended given the tariff is very good at Euro 70 per night.

Logis Saint Mexme is a very good place to stay in Chinon. We stayed in the chambre Jardin which has everything you need, it's spacious, very beautiful bed linnen, a large colourful bathroom. The breakfast room is very cosy and breakfast was perfect.

We so enjoyed staying in this lovely place that we had to come back. Chinon is a beautiful town, and you could find no better place to stay. Madame Helene is delightful, warm, welcoming, and provides the most delicious breakfasts, served in a beautiful little dining room. The bedrooms are huge, there is secure space to store a bike, and the walled garden is beautiful. We could not fauly this place, & would love to go back again. Merci, Helene!

Room Tip: The garden room has a good walk in shower. The other room does have a bathtub, I believe.
