“Ideal set-up for lunch at Chateau de Chenonceau”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We booked a table in the veranda (Ask for the left side facing the chateau) and were charmed by the view and the food. We chose "a la carte" which offer a very wide choice for all kind of tastes and moods.
When in France, we "splurge" on dinner but tend to go easy on lunch to stay alert for the rest of the day. At l'Orangerie, you can safely order any dish and have a good surprise with fresh and nicely presented plates. The service is top-class and will try hard to please you.

At high season, it is wise to book ahead.

“Beautiful lunch on Chenonceau property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Ate lunch at L'Orangerie on the terrace. Excellent. Normally would not expect this level of quality trapped in the middle of one of the most famous chateau in the Loire region. Food quality was excellent and prices reasonable, for type of food being provided and for level of service. Nice wine list as well. A great way to split up the day, so you can see the interior of the buildings before lunch, take a break and enjoy a nice meal and glass of wine, and then tour the gardens before heading home. Nice kids menu as well.

Would probably make a reservation as it seemed to fill up the day we were there after about 1:30. It doesn't open until 12, which is the only downside.

“Pricey but a lovely treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Have the maison aperitif - and enjoy being on holiday! fantastic food and service, really enjoyed our meal. Shame it isn't open in the evenings to coincide with the lit garden evenings as they close at 3pm.

“Perfect lunch for a day at the castle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

We did not expect to find a restaurant of that quality on site of a major tourist attraction. Deterred by the long lines at the self-service restaurant in front, we wandered around the back to L'Orangerie and to our surprise got a table right a way.

“Fantastic Food for a Great Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

Fantastic Food for a Great Price, and this is France on a tourist site. It was 29€ for their tasting menu (5 courses), which would normally be around 50€ to 60€ at most places. The quality of the food was excellent and the Loire Valley wine list was a perfect pairing. I would definitely eat here again, if in the area.
