“Noisy and tired hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2010

We chose this hotel because it was reasonably priced and others in the same price range (with a higher rating on this site) were full. The price is about the best thing that can be said about this hotel. It is a tired old place that has a youth hostel feel in the rooms (i.e. very tired) and very thin walls. You can hear everything and should not expect to sleep beyond 7am once activity starts.
The location was o.k. for the chateau and in quiet area close to a student area (so very safe). The centre of town was a good 20 minute walk away.
The owners/staff were very helpful and pleasant and there was free WiFi and parking. However, we would not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants more than a cheap place to sleep.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room was the average size one would expect in France, but neat, clean and cheery. It is not in the town centre, so one needs to walk about 10-15 minutes to get there. But the location is brilliant if you are using Blois as a base for travelling around in the region (as we were), not even 2 minutes from the train station from where you can catch a bus or a train to anywhere!

The only problem, as in all of Blois, the managers speak very very little English. I wanted to find out if they had a locker for us to keep our valuables - but gave up after a few minutes, as they clearly had no idea what I was talking about!

I stayed in a triple room at this hotel for one night. My two friends and I stopped in Blois to take a chateaux tour before heading to Tours (and then, back to Paris). The hotel is in an okay location—very close to the train station but about a 10-15 walk to the downtown part of the city. Perhaps, it was because we visited during August, but the area around the hotel was rather deserted and city was markedly quiet (except a great, free concert near the Chateau de Blois on the one night we were there). Regardless, we enjoyed our short stay in the city and it was a good place from which to grab the reasonably-priced circulating bus to see Chateau de Chambord and Chateau de Cheverney

The room was comfortable and clean. It included free wifi and had a tv, desk, double bed and single bed. The bathroom was small and had an accordion-styled door that didn’t entirely close.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to budget travelers who want to stay close to the train station. It is a basic hotel that, in truth, wasn’t memorable but met our needs and budget.

The Le Savoie is a nice little two star hotel in walking distance of the city center of Blois. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and equipped with television and free WiFi. If you are traveling by car, free parking is provided just opposite of the hotel. If you are traveling by train, the hotel is located a few meters away from the train station.

French breakfast (croissant, butter, jam, tea or coffee, yogurt, cereals) is served in a nice dining room. Additionally, the hotel has a small hotel bar right next to a small library. We found a Lonely Planet for France there which was helpful in finding a nice restaurant in Blois.

Spent 2 days at this hotel and it had a great rate and location. Near the train station as well as the city center. Good breakfast for a low rate. The owners were wonderful and eager to please. I would stay there again on my next trip to the Loire Valley!

We used Blois as a base for exploring the Loire Valley chateaux. This hotel is perfect for that because it's located literally across the street from the Blois train station. While the hotel is a no-frills budget hotel, the location and extremely nice owners made our stay very enjoyable. The rooms are decently sized, but the shower-only rooms (like ours) have very small bathrooms. Downtown Blois (including the Blois chateau) is only a 10-minute walk away, and the TLC bus to the Chambord and Cheverny chateaux leaves from the train station across the street. To reach Amboise and Chenonceaux chateaux, you can catch the train from the same station.

The hotel is very conveniently situated near the train station and bus stops, which makes it a good base for exploring near-by castles. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to the centre of the town. Warm welcome, a nice albeit small room, a very small bathroom. On the whole, I would rate our stay higher if it weren't for the construction site right opposite our window - they began working between 7 and 8 in the morning, and, being a light sleeper, I didn't fancy waking up at that hour during my vacations. Apart from that the hotel was OK, the location is good, and the price was very reasonable.
