Description: The restaurant l'Orangerie du Chteau is opposite the fairy tale Chteau de Blois overlooking the beautiful facade of the castle. The orangery was built at the end of the 15th century during the reign of Louis XVII and Anne of Brittany and was surrounded by beautiful gardens. The orangery has become a fine dining restaurant offering a variety of menus priced from 38 to 83 euros per person as well as some of the finest French wines available. For tea and coffee lovers the restaurant also prides itself on the wide selection available. The menus are made up of traditional French dishes cooked and served to the very highest of standards and that change with the seasons.

orangerie du chateau
This was a great enjoyable moment.
Luckily weather was super and we had dinner on the terrace, with a splendid view on the castle.
Nice and well balanced menu. Portion size are correct and great quality.
Very friendly service.
Despite cheese was not included in the menu, we were not charged for it.
This restaurant is really worth the money you spend.

“First class food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

Food was amazing, if you eat there try the souffle for desert - but leave room for it its light and fluffy but comes with about 5 other "amuse bouche" as it were.
Fixed price menues are varied and provide a good range of prices with the most expensive for 5 courses including 2 lobster courses at about €80 Euros a head.
The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced.
Well worth at least one meal there during a visit to the area

“Over rated”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

We just had dinner as part of a group
Pre booked therefore expected
They had 2 staff and a 14 year old looking after forty people!!!!
No wine was offered till 45 min AFTER arrival
We had to serve ourselves water to avoid thirst
This was after we started eating our first course!!!!!!
They served us a hot bottle of champagne and were unhappy that we refused to pay for it
This is a disappointment of a restuarant

“How it should be”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We had an excellent dinner with immaculate food and service in a pleasant dining room overlooking leafy gardens. This is how a Michelin-starred restaurant should be, and 220 euros including champagne aperitifs and an expensive bottle of wine is a reasonable price for a top class meal. This sort of restaurant reminds you that France is still the home of some great cuisine, you just have to look a bit harder for it these days!
