We spent two nights here. We enjoyed our stay. However, be warned that there is no lift and the staircase is very uneven. If you have mobility problems make sure that you have a ground floor room. The rooms: a bit faded around the edges but warm, comfortable and linen was spotless and changed each day. Very spacious, with seperate large bathroom with bath and hand held shower. Very well lit with useful moveable mirrors and hairdrier. Seperate toilet and bidet. Mini bar within the wardrobe! which meant there wasn't much room to hang clothes. Wasn't much of a problem for a couple of nights. The breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of choice. Loved the orange presse machine. The view both from our room and from the breakfast room was lovely. The lights on the stairs at night were a nice touch. Unless you looked closely you could not tell they were battery run. At least they are not a safety hazzard! Another nice atmospheric touch was the chanting monks we could hear on the staircases. Not in the least intrusive. We leave it up to you to find out where it comes from! We knew in advance that there wasn't a restaurant, so on the first night we went to the Pizza place right next door. Good meal and reasonably priced. If you are looking for cheap French Bistro food at night you won't find it. As the main meal of the day is lunch and the smaller places that produce this food are not open at night. This is not just in Beaugency but all over France now. I know this as I have lived in France for ten years. One small niggle. That the bar and the beautiful Salon closed at 8.00pm. Wonderful for a pre-dinner drink, but no use if you just want a night in by the fire relaxing with a drink, chatting or reading. The other Salon was just as beautiful with lovely furniture and was open, but it was cold with no fire. Staff were very helpful and attentive and spoke good English. Finally, we were on a "Groupon" deal and very happy with what we paid, however I am not sure that we would be happy to pay full rate.
