“Enjoyable Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

After a trans-Atlantic flight and a train trip from Paris, we felt fortunate to find ourselves at La Grange Chambres! We arrived to find a quiet and comfortable room next to a lovely courtyard. The B&B is centrally located in town, so it was easy to walk to restaurants, the tourist office, the river, and some attractions, including the Chateau du Clos Luce. Because the house is set behind a stone wall, there weren't any street noises to disturb us at night. And breakfasts were quite enjoyable -- a nice choice of breads, cereals, fruit and yogurt, and plenty of coffee! We never felt rushed to finish, so that gave us a nice opportunity to visit with other guests.

The only drawback is probably the distance from the train station. It's at least a 20-minute walk. We were there in July, when the temperatures were above 90 degrees each day. At any other time of the year, we wouldn't have minded the walk quite as much.

My cousin and I stayed here in October 2012 while we explored the Loire Valley. Amboise is a really great central location for exploring the area. Our experience at La Grange Chambres was wonderful. The rooms are quaint, the courtyard very peaceful, and the breakfast is delicious (complete with fresh bread from the local bakery). Yveline and Patrick are quite friendly and Yveline was gracious enough to humor me while I practiced my French! If you have a car, as my cousin and I did, it is a bit difficult to get into the driveway from the street. I am quite sure watching us back into the driveway each time was both humorous and nerve racking for Yveline (not to mention us!). I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a B&B in the Loire Valley!

La Grange Chambres is one of our favourite B&Bs. Location was terrific: right in the centre of Amboise, yet very quiet. Our room was big, overlooking a pretty garden, and the bathroom was excellent. Our breakfasts were a real highlight: traditional French continental with excellent choice of bread and jams, not to mention muesli, yoghourt, fresh fruit and probably other things I can't remember. Yveline fussed over us wonderfully. We were also allowed to bring in dinner and eat it at the breakfast table. The B&B is about 20-or-so minutes walk from the railway station, crossing various small roads and a bridge; it's a bit fiddly with cases, but quite manageable. We would definitely stay there again.

La Grange Chambres is well located near the main pedestrian-only main shopping street of Amboise, and also near the tourist information centre. Our tastefully decorated bedroom was very large with a comfortable bed and a modern ensuite. WiFi was available in our room. We enjoyed the delicious continental breakfast in the breakfast room looking out onto the lovely courtyard.

Hosts Yveline and Patrick are charming people who go out of their way to help their guests have an enjoyable stay. On the day of our departure Patrick drove us to the station as we had to catch an early train.

Mme Yveline and M Patrick are lovely hosts. Warm and welcoming. Delicious breakfast, fresh croissants, pain au chocolat, homemade confiture. Lots of information about the area, lovely garden, places to relax and soak in the atmosphere. Request a room overlooking the courtyard.

Everything about our stay with Yveline and Patrick was top notch, from the spacious well appointed room, to the delicious breakfast and wonderful location. Best of all as mentioned by other guests, the owners themselves really made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable.
Thank you to both - we hope to be back again in the near future.
