“A good budget hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

In a side street, near the centre, with free parking just a short walk away. Good breakfast for France - croissants, breads, yoghurt, fruit, cereals, juice, cheese and meats. Clean, friendly welcome. Comfy bed, not a noisy location. Short walk to the touristy bit near the Chateau or the river. Street parking free between 18.00 and 9.00. Would return without hesitation.

Room Tip: Ask for room on the inner side,, but the street is not noisy.

This place is centrally located, just down the street from the tourist office, a grocery store, cafes, shops and the river. A short walk across the river to the train station. It is not within easy walking distance to the Europcar rental agency, however, and the only way to get there is by rather pricey taxi (15 euros to go a short distance).
Breakfast for under 10 euros/person is very simple and probably not worth the optional additional fee--coffee plus cold hard boiled eggs, a few strips of ham, toast. However, the rooms have no coffee pots or refrigerators so you're rather limited; though you could easily walk down the street for coffee, pastries, etc.
This place is adequate and properly run--no warm and fuzzy welcome, but rather like entering a school dorm where the hostess watches you like a hawk as you come and go. Rooms on the street can be a bit noisy if the window is left open. Soap comes out of an institutional wall pump; toilet paper is in hard squares. No luxury here, but clean and neat and comfortable beds.

For the price, the location was excellent. Staff didn't speak English. Room small and shower really tiny. Clean and quiet. Close to shops and restaurants. Breakfast nothing exceptional, very simple. Again great price. They shoudn't advertise they have free wi-fi, because it doesn't work, you can't send emails.

The hotel was very nice and quiet, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. You have to check in by 8 pm. The hotel doesn't have its own parking but there are is a free parking lot nearby. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room pricing was inexpensive and I was a little worried that this place would be a dump. It's fine for a night or two if you plan on spending your time out of hotel sight seeing. Furnishings are aged and worn but clean. Beds and pillows were thin and hard. But there was plenty of hot water. We did not try the breakfast as there was a great patisserie close by. The front desk couple were very helpful in directing us to tourism bureau and getting cab service to train station although they spoke little English. Location is in center of downtown area. Short walk to Amboise castle, restaurants and river. Short walk to bus stop to Chateau Chenonceau.

What good value - half the cost of the Ibis, and right in the town centre. Plain and functional, but what do you expect at this price? Helpful and pleasant staff, free wifi, excellent coffee at breakfast, free 24 hour parking only a short away. The only improvement I'd want is to have more than one electrical socket in the room - we had to unplug the TV to charge the laptop! Highly recommended though for the budget traveller.
