“Impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

Great collection! We thoroughly enjoyed the medieval works. We were pleasantly surprised by the modern collection. But we came to see the duke's tombs with high expectations and we were not disappointed.

We were traveling with small children. The museum has a handy and modern elevator, bag storage, and employees who are kind and very helpful. A stroller was no problem. Entry to the museum is free, so we were able to make two shorter, focused visits over two days to ensure we all had a memorable experience.

Be sure to cross the courtyard and check out the interesting books and gifts in the museum bookstore. The museum cafe was also wonderful. We arrived as they were opening in the morning for some exceptional cappuccino and were treated to (free) fresh, warm croissants. We loved this place.

“Interesting and varied collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

High quality medieval art is well represented but there is a very worthwhile collection of moderns as well. The modern section can be a little tricky to find and this section is closed over lunchtime.

“Interesting gallery inside the Ducal Palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

Stopped off to have a look while on the Owl trail. Seeing some of the inside of the Ducal Palace was part of the attraction as well as an extensive exhibition of art. Due to time, I targeted the old Flemish masters and similar style artist. The tombs of some of the dukes are also here.

“World class in every respect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014 via mobile

Dijon's municipal art gallery has to be seen to be believed, and eclipses many national collections the world over. Pre-Renaissance art may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the works assembled here take your breath away and look as if they were painted yesterday thanks to fastidious cleaning. Then there is the building itself, shiny and new, and housed in the former palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. My only gripe was the cost of the iced tea in the courtyard cafe, but considering entry is free of charge, it was a modest price to pay to see art as you've never seen it displayed before
