Elohim of Alter & Go really knows his stuff, is passionate about wine, and made the tour fun.
The details: We started at about 9:30 in Dijon, got a lesson on terroir as we cruised the towns going south, tasted some local cheese, and sampled the wines of three wineries (both reds and whites!), and had a lunch in a well-chosen cafe in Nuits-Saint-Georges. We finished with some free time in Beaune, and drove back in the dark (late October) to arrive back in Dijon around 18:30. The timeline was adapted to our needs (a train to catch) and I think normally there might be a longer pause in Beaune.
Bring a camera, and a notebook if you're nerdy, because you're going to learn a lot! Also, yes, the wine appeared to be for sale but you had to be proactive if that was what you're after, because there was zero pressure to hang out in the shops or buy any souvenirs. It was all about the wine tasting.
Elohim was wonderful. He had a great rapport with the locals, was funny in English and in French, and knew his wine - he's a winemaker, and wasn't afraid to share his opinions, which was great.
