“Absolutely amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in the main house for 3 nights and absolutely loved every minute of our stay! From the first minute we walked in, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The staff personalised a wine tour for us around Burgundy, with the lunch recommendation simply faultless. Dinner recommendations in beaune were also spot on with local taxi driver walking us into the restaurant and advising we didn't speak French and to look after us as we were staying at la terre d'or. Spa in the grotto was a highlight and the view from our room over the city of beaune was magnificent. We will definitely be returning to beaune and la terre d'or. We have already made recommendations to our friends!

Stayed here for 3 nights in May 2013 if you don't have a car i suggest you stay in town . Breakfast at 15 euros per person was hugely overpriced - very little provided for breakfast which might have cost all of 5 euros so if you stay here have breakfast in Beaune . Website advertised a flat screen tv but what we had was a small computer monitor and only 1 channel could be watched Very disappointed as expected much better based on other reviews

We were looking forward to staying at a beautiful and relaxing B&B on our way from Paris to Switzerland. We got a room in one of the "gites" which is meant for families or a group of friends. The walls were paper thin so we could hear everything our fellow B&B guests next door did. In the morning breakfast was delivered to the room, which would be really nice if there was a decent set-up to enjoy the breakfast. But there wasn't a table nor enough space to put things. The lady who brought it forgot glasses for the orange juice (out of a carton, not freshly squeezed). They didn't have any black tea. All in all it felt like amateurs were running the place. They should price it accordingly. Breakfast was not even included in the room price.

The bathroom light above vanity didn't' work, only the light in the shower. And to top it off, at 3 am a dog started barking and didn't stop until 6am. We told the manager in the morning and he didn't give a darn. For EUR 170 you can find a much better B&B more centrally located.

We've just returned from 2 days at La Terre and once again, we loved it! Our decision to go was very last minute so we could only stay at La Terre (or at"Jean-Louis" as we like to call it) 2 of our 4 days in Beaune because they were full. Vincent was quick to respond to my emails when we decided on this trip. He was very accommodating, even recommending a few places for us to stay the other 2 nights. This is our second visit, so we were VERY excited. Upon arrival we were kindly welcomed by Clemence - who is new since our 2012 visit. She showed us to our room and explained it was Vincent's room as a child (we stayed in the room across the hall last year). Shortly after we had a big greeting from Jean-Louis and felt right at home! He is always willing to help with cave recommendations, restaurant recs, and anything else you might need. It wasn't until the following day that we saw Vincent, who also gave us a very warm greeting. I'm not sure if they remembered us or not, but they certainly seemed too. :-) I could go on and on about how much we enjoy La Terre D'or. If you are looking for a hotel-like feel, look elsewhere, but if you want a personal experience, I highly recommend. Enjoy!

Room Tip: "Vincent's old room" is very sunny and gorgeous with a fab bathroom. Jean-Louis showed...

My husband, brother, sister in law and I spent 4 lovely days in Beaune France. We stayed at Terre D'Or, a wonderful B&B style inn on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Beaune and its picturesque rows and rows of vineyards. We elected to stay in one of two small "gites" on the property which was perfect for our group. The main house (so charming) and the garden (filled with bright new Spring flowers) were sprinkled with the endearing sculpture of family member Vincent's wife, Jurga. Ours was one of two separate 2-bedroom cottages that included a living room and small kitchen, perfect for us to hang out together and make one meal, mainly of local wine, cheese, salami, and olives. Jean Louis, the proprietor, is an adorable guy who guided us through two wonderful days of wine, food and history. He knows everything about the area as well as wine-making and imparts it all with his gusto for life. We were shown so much about the grapes and the vines that even my brother, who knew a lot to start, learned much. Jean Louis' son Vincent was our main contact. Vincent prepared our breakfast and became a fast friend as we chatted with him about the countryside, the beautiful village of Beaune, and the world. We could. not have chosen a more wonderful place to stay and plan to come back soon.

Room Tip: Don't forget to see the grotto on the property complete with stalactites and a hot tub!

We stayed two nights in the most tranquil spot imaginable in the hills overlooking Beaune (tranquil apart from the Thunderstorm and Power Cut!).
Jean Louis couldn't have done more for us, and took us on a fantastic day tour of Burgundy vineyards and wineries and a great restaurant in the middle of nowhere. A short walk down into Beaune for dinner, and a gret recommended restaurant, but definitely a taxi back!
Didn't get a chance to enjoy the grotto, but certainly next time we visit!

If you're looking for a guesthouse in Beaune - Terre D'Or is a must. Amazing & tranquil location up on the hill overlooking the town with gorgeous & spacious newly renovated rooms. Vincent and Clemence are unbelievably friendly and nothing is too much of an ask. They were on hand to tell us all the best places to visit in the area, recommended and booked restaurants for us and even brought us Champagne breakfast in bed on my birthday! But the highlight was Vincent showing us around his amazing hand-dug grotto with newly installed hot-tub... Terre D'Or made our trip, and we'll definitely be going back. If you're not overly impressed by the service and hospitality in France, this place may well change your mind.
