“Great Stay once again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Stayed at this hotel again as I think it is one of the best in Beaune, very friendly staff, wonderful breakfast served either in the courtyard or cellar dining room with excellant choices. The bedrooms are large with super bathrooms. Each room is different all housed in very old buildings which adjoin the main hotel.,
This hotel is situated in the centre so easy to explore the town, we saw wonderful lumiere exhibits at night on the churches and buildings.
If we return to Beaune we would certainly stay here again.
Many very good places to eat all within walking distance.

Fantastic location if you're exploring Beaune. Right in the center of town and walking distance to great restaurants, shopping and all the sites. Rooms were also very big and the breakfast buffet very nice. Only problem is that is very expensive to stay there.

We booked a junior suite and were horrified to be shown to a room up two flights of steep stone stairs with no lift. As I have knee trouble we turned this down and were eventually given a deluxe room whch was OK.Nowhere on the website does it say some rooms are only accessible by stairs. The bathroom really needed attention - the shower head was loose on its bracket and swivelled around when the water was switched on, spraying it everywhere. No bedside tables - which was really irritating. We told them we were leaving very early and would need the car keys - but despite this there had to be a hunt for the night porter. Thse hotel is ideally situated right in the centre of Beaune and the 23 euro set lunch next door at the Michelin starred Bernard Loiseau restaurant was wonderful - despite huge party of Japanese who drove everyone (including the maitre d) mad by jumping up and down, taking phone calls, photographing everything and sitting at vacant tables - which meant the staff had to reset them as the cutlery etc had been touched. The Maitre d was practically counting the spoons when they left !

Room Tip: ask if there are stairs. We had room 107 which was large and quite OK

We stayed two nights while touring the wine country. The hotel was wonderful...we stayed int he Montrachet Room--all rooms are different and named for a wine. The service was very accommodating and helpful. The bathroom was beautiful. The gym was the only negative mark but for just two days it was a good excuse not to workout! It is a wonderful town!

Room Tip: Montrachet Room

The hotel has a romantic Louis XIV feel and decor. The staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast is fabulous. Charm and character en galore. Our room had a large renovated bathroom and separate, private toilet. But - it was rather small and had a supporting beam in the middle of the room which hindered you to get off and around the right side of the queen size bed and was an exceptional annoyance when you wanted to get to the washroom during the night. It was difficult to find the location of the hotel by car, as the street (rue Maufoux) was not recognized by the Garmin GPS navigation unit in our car. It is quite a small street leading from Boulevard Clemenceau to the centre of Beaune. After seeking advice at the central tourist office, we however eventually found the hotel and had no trouble with parking- and offloading-help offered. There is no dining room in the hotel, but there are ample and good restaurants very close by. Located just around the corner from Hotel-Dieu. As an added surprise, the hotel invited its guests to participate in a piano recital by the American pianist Ronnie Kole and to a pre-concert champagne reception at the hotel the night we were there. Greatly enjoyed our stay at Beaune.

Room Tip: Get a room without a supporting beam in the middle of it!

We discovered Le Cep on our way to the Cote d'Azur and used it as a stopover, with little expectation of the hotel. We were absolutely delighted when we arrived, with marvellous service and an elegantly appointed room. We were travelling with two young children and despite the other guests being mostly older couples the hotel were very welcoming to our young family. Breakfast in the courtyard was really enchanting, and whilst the food was nice the ambience and setting was breathtaking. The staff were informative of local vineyards and wine caves, and we enjoyed strolling the streets of Beaune in the evening and through the day, as well as touring the cote de Beaune area. We fell in love with the hotel, and we returned on our way back from the Cote d'Azur specifically to stay there. Whilst we travelled with a young family - the hotel was very romantic, and we will definitely return either with or without children.

Room Tip: We stayed in junior suite with beautiful roccoc style which was on the 1st floor and was truely beau...

Old and charming. Extremely comfortable and quiet given that it is in the middle of town. Our room was huge with excellent facilities and a huge bathroom, beautifully clean and well fitted out. A bit of a tram smash in the car park but there was a permanent attendant who organised things. An excellent stop on our route to Provence.

Room Tip: The rooms are amazing. Ours had a balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard...delightful.
