My husband and I were looking for a place to stay in the middle of Burgundy for a week and I could not find any B&Bs on TripAdvisor that seemed to fill the bill. Then, luckily the magazine section of our newspaper (the San Francisco Chronicle) ran a story about Morvan, which is in Burgundy. After contacting several of the places, we decided to stay in Saint Martin Du Puy. It was a great choice, The owners, Sylvia and Etienne could not be more delightful or knowledgeable about the area. They have refurbished an old farm and use the top floor as the chambres d'hotes (B&B). The pictures on the website very accruately portray the house and rooms. There were no minues--and the pluses included a kitchen/living room just for the guests, free wifi, a lovely breakfast and extenstive information about Morvan and all of Burgundy, and great dinner recommendations. And the best part is that our room was 50 euros a night for the two of us. One caveat, it is in the country--which we just loved. And, there were plenty of restaurants in the surrounding villages. So this is not the place if you are looking for an exciting nightlife. But, if you really want to get to know the gorgeous countryside of France and discover Burgundy, it is ideal.
