Contrary to some other reviews, we found the location and hospitality at this interesting hotel excellent. We had the best meal of our holiday in the evening, sitting outside in the old cloister with first class food and a wonderful sunset view. We were a very brief walk from the cathedral. The parking was easy. We cannot recommend it more highly

Spent one night at this place; wouldn't have stayed but for the fact that we were meeting up with family and it was too late to make alternate arrangements. Rooms (supposedly "superior") were absolutely dismal. Very pokey, run down and really quite depressing. One had the sense the whole establishment was tinkering on the brink of collapse but was managing to eek out a continued existence by duping unsuspecting first-timers. The only thing positive I can say about this place is that it has a lovely setting and view. We had our evening meal in the restaurant and that was on par with the rest of our experience in this place: worse than mediocre. Autun was beautiful and charming but this place was not. Save yourself the disappointment.

In need of a serious renovation, the food was appalling. If you must stay there, do not eat there.

Stayed here as a stop over to the South of France with our two teenage boys.
When we arrived at 8pm the Receptionist was freindly and very helpful and as we had been driving for 8 plus hours, we (foolishly) booked to eat in the hotel restaurant.
Overall the building is lovely but need much TLC to bring it up to scratch. The setting is beautiful (but we missed this as we arrived in the dark). Our rooms were the standard ones, so we were not expecting luxery, however our room was tiny (the bathroom was OK) and the carpet smelt of feet! There was a broken lightbulb and a curious ( and slightly unpleasant) stain on the bed spread.
The boys had a huge room on the other side of the hotel which they were happy with.

We could have coped with this if it had not been for dinner-the fixed price menu was 39 Euro, and we assumed it would be good. Started well with some appetizers ( despite the supercilious waiter who though he was at Claridges!), but rapidly went downhill.
To cut a long story short-the hotel is OK-but I think the rooms vary in comfort - however please don't bother with the restaurant -it is overpriced, with awful food and waiting staff, although not rude-clearly wanted to be somewhere else.
For the price we paid, we expected more-the one highlight in the service was the helpful receptionist.
With more care and attebtion this could be a great venue.

The room was a bit small and the beds were short. If you are over 6' 2" it may be a problem. No shower in bath, just a very small tub. The parking garage was dingy and very odorous! Very pretty courtyard. Location was close enough to walk to the upper village. Many places to eat. We chose a crepes and they were very good.
