This was our second stay at this hotel; again staying on the way to the ferry home. It is conveniently situated, close to the promenade and a lovely sandy beach. Last time we stayed just one night in a very quiet room, 6, I think, which overlooked a small garden. this time we had booked 2 nights as there was no one night tariff available. we were allocated room 26, a second floor room at the back of the hotel and facing a busy road. our sleep was disturbed due to it being very hot and so we had to leave our small window open and so heard traffic noise until quite late. There is a small car-park with spaces for about 7 cars and this is locked at night, which was reassuring for us as we had 2 bikes on a carrier.
Staff are courteous and helpful. on our second day we returned to discover all our towels had been taken, a quick request at reception and clean ones were brought. this seemed a shame as we would happily have reused the bath towels and had left them hanging on a hook to indicate this.
Breakfast is served in a nice little room and there was a good selection, good service and plenty to eat.
There is an elegant salon with a balcony facing the sea and Wi-fi through out the hotel which mostly worked well.
I have seen another review suggesting a 30 minute stroll would bring you to the old walled town, I fear this is a bit of an underestimate and would suggest 45 minutes would be more realistic for most people.
There are few options for economical eating, a pizzeria and a brasserie along the sea front are probably the most popular. Menus at a nearby hotel are varied in prices but the better deals are not always available on a Saturday night! Knowing this we had planned a picnic, so that was easy!
Some room have walk in showers, others have over-bath showers, so check on booking if that is important.
There is no tea/coffee making facility, just a small bottle of water, so any drink requirements either take your own, ring room service or go down to the salon and order.
Rooms very clean and pleasant. (with the exception below)
Sadly my visit was spoiled by my receiving about 10 nasty flea bites in the elegant salon on the Friday night; we had not realise dogs were allowed in all areas of the hotel, including the salon and the breakfast room!! I won't submit pictures of my poor ankles and legs!
I mentioned this to the gentleman who we paid on Sunday morning and he reassured me it would be investigated, he checked there had been no recent visits by dogs to our room there were dogs in the breakfast room on both mornings and a very hairy hound was in the salon on Saturday afternoon.
