Arriving mid morning into Rennes Gare from St. Malo and with 2 hours to wait until our next train connection my wife and myself decided on a late breakfast/brunch.
Opting not to remain in the station itself we found ourselves stopping at the nearby Le Cafe Noir. Although not serving food for another half hour we were welcomed and shown to a table of our choice, whereupon we were handed menus to peruse and our orders for drinks promptly served.
A simple meal of omelettes filled with ham, mushrooms and cheese accompanied by frites and bread completed the order. We both particularly enjoy omelettes and these were arguably some of the best that we have tasted and the frites were also delicious. For drinks we ordered two Perrier waters and a tea and the bill amounted to 32.00 euros including service.
Good food, well cooked and served in a friendly and unhurried atmosphere.
