“Value for Money and Comfort at Par!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

Stayed for a week in Pau at the Quality Hotel. To start with I can say that this is a value for money option but the comfort is at par with any business hotel. There is reception and bar on the ground floor and the rooms are from first floor and above. Staff is courteous and answered all my queries. Smoking is not allowed inside the hotel but outside on the podium beside the entrance there is smoking area. Rooms are comfortable and adequately spacious. Room layout is good. Air conditioning was also proper. They also provide free wifi for which you just need to register once. Instruction manuals are avaiable both in english and french. Bathrooms are clean and adquate tolieteries are provided so you can travel with your shavers and toothbrush and tooth paste. Best thing-washroom and loo is separate. I have seen parking area which is an added benefit. The best part of this hotel is it is very near city center and the chateau which is the main tourist attraction for this place. Breakfast is not lavish, but is adequate for a quick bite and coffee. They do not have any restaurants with the hotel which serve anything else than coffee. Food is available in aplenty outside which satisfy nearly all palate and cusine from mexican to indian to italian to french to mediterranean. Each friday and saturday there is a flea market just a few miunted towards the city center where you can pick up a lot of good deals on clothes, shoes, perfumes and so on.

Very nice place very close to town with secure safe free parking. Ever so helpful staff. Clean spacious rooms. Nice breakfast. Really could not ask for more for the price. Stayed there a second time on the way back!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

We stayed for two nights recently. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially compared to what one can run into in France some times. Breakfast opened earlier than usual to accommodate guests going to an event that started early. One night staff helped us order some pizzas from a nearby place they recommended which turned out to be quite good.

Some responses to other reviews I saw: Agreed, the lobby area is a bit sterile, not a place I'd hang out to read. We didn't see dodgy characters in the neighborhood. Breakfast is nice (not included), but doesn't have hot items other than hardboiled eggs if I remember right. Too-thick pillows had not changed yet.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

I stayed in Pau for 4 nights in mid june 2012. When i first entered the building, the lobby didnt seem like much. Just coming from a weekend in Paris, it seemed very basic. However, the room was clean, big (for europe) and fast wifi was available. The location is centralized, and there are some beggers and people drinking on the street within the block, however, i did not have trouble with any of them.

I will stay there again when i return to Pau.

This hotel is located fairly centrally but in a street where the many dodgier residents of Pau appear to hang out. Think matted hair, tattoos, dogs on rope. Pau seems a bit down on its luck despite its illustrious past. The owners can't be blamed for this of course and no actual trouble from them observed.
Plus points: cheap, central, free wifi, lots of free secure parking, room recently redecorated.
Negatives: shabby public areas, redecs a bit superficial and a bizarre shade of custard yellow.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2011

We spent one night here on our way to the Midi-Pyrenees. We liked the fact that there was on-site, secure, free parking. We had a double room with comfortable twin beds. There were 2 desk areas and chairs in the room and a kettle with instant coffee and tea. There was a separate toilet room. The bathroom had a double sink, good shower, a non-slip tub and good lighting. The buffet breakfast @ 12 euros pp was very good with a lot of choice including fresh squeezed orange juice and omelet or fried eggs to order.

The location, a short walk from the old part of town and very close to the Fine Arts Museum is ideal for visiting the city. We would stay here again and recommend it to friends.
