wonderful place, great breakfast, lovely views all around...nice pool...and just a few minutes walk to town...the bed was really comfy. i love staying here! the region is a mystical blend of ancient prehistory, with caves and artifacts, castle ruins and much more. the town is friendly and peaceful. i can't wait to return.

Stayed at this hotel in early September on an orgnanised tour. The hotel is in a lovely setting, with a good swimming pool, not huge, but quite adequate unless there are many using it at once, which wasn't the case, fortunately. The tour rep described the hotel as "shabby-chic" which I personally thought a little unfair, but I only saw our own room, which I thought was quite a good size, smart, with separate bathroom and toilet. I believe most rooms have an overhead fan, which on its lowest setting is silent running (useful at night if it is very hot). As previously reported by others, there is no 'fridge, or tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, which would have been nice. Also, strangely, no drawers ( a French thing, I believe), so you only have a wardrobe for your things. I found the bed to be very comfortable and there were spare square pillows if you didn't like the french bolster-type pillows on the bed. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom, also a small 'safe' which is placed in the wardrobe and is not fastened to anything, so not sure whether you could really call it a 'safe'! but from what I gather, there is very little crime in the area. If you are on the ground floor, as we were, it is slightly disconcerting to find that your window does not shut properly and your safe is portable, especially as the hotel cleaning statff have a habit of leaving the window open! Breakfast was basic, but adequate and I found no fault with it. Watch out for the local preserves, which taste wonderful. The seating area in the bar and outside by the pool was pleasant and the hotel owners could not have been more helpful and friendly. An example: our rep had recommended trying the local nut liqueur. When I asked for this at the bar I was offered a free and generous taste of both the nut liqueur and a nut aperitif to try, before deciding which I wanted. We were on the ground floor of the main building, facing the back, and it was very quiet. In fact, for early September, the whole of Les Eyzies seems to shut down around 10pm! The village itself is delightful with a lovely river walk (watch out for the kingfishers) numerous restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets, a couple of which are within 150 metres of the hotel. There is also a small supermarket only 200 metres away and a launderette just across the road, if needed. I agree with another review that most menus are pretty similar. Duck, duck and more duck! but hey - it's their speciality and they are very proud of it! The only thing I would change was that the mixer shower was not fixed to the wall, so standing in the bath you had to hold the shower, which can be awkward, especially if you have a balance problem, as I do. However, there was plenty of hot water and the water pressure was also very good. A lovely clean and friendly hotel and a great holiday, overall. I would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room in the main hotel facing the rear, which was very peaceful, but I don'...

This is a lovely hotel, 2 minute walk to the pretty town with many restaurants although they all seem to have basically the same menu. The first restaurant a pizza place will let you have takeaway pizza, chips and crepes which you can take back to the hotel which is a plus as the hotel has no snacks available although it has a lovely bar by the pool. The pool is well kept and never really busy. The breakfast which costs extra was lovely with a good variety and you can enjoy it inside or outside. There are many places to visit very close by and within walking distance the museum and canoeing. The only negative was although our family room had everything you needed there was no airconditioning, fortunately the hotel lent us a fan which made sleeping slightly easier although it was still boiling through the night so they would benefit from a ceiling fan which I believe some of the other rooms have. Also if they had a icemachine like in the usa hotels it would be great as the room was so warm so were our drinks in the room, but all in all a lovely hotel in a perfect position with lovely staff, would highly recommend and return if going to the dordogne again.

Room Tip: family room in the pavillion was lovely but no aircon or ceiling fan, the dordogne is really hot in...

Beautiful hotel, very clean, very comfortable rooms and beds, very friendly, gorgeous pool, and only 5 mins walk into Les Eyzies. We stayed 4 nights in August, and absolutely loved it. We had 2 rooms (38 & 39) in the separate block at the rear of the hotel, (travelled with husband and 2 children aged 12 & 14). We opted out of taking the expensive breakfast (it's not compulsory!!) and strolled up into les Eyzies every morning to the Cafe de la Marie where we got a lovely breakfast for €5 each. We would not consider staying anywhere else in Les Eyzies, and will certainly be returning.

We stayed one night in room 41, which is a separate building from the main hotel. The room was clean and adequate and there was good wifi access. €92 a night for two plus €10 each for a mediocre breakfast seems steep, compared with other hotels in the area, e.g. Edward 1er in Monpazier was the same price a far superior hotel. The reception staff were extremely helpful, and gave us good information about where to eat and that the Museum was open free that night. However, the cleaning staff were not helpful. On departure, with two heavy cases to wheel out, we were met with vacuum cleaners and trash bags littering our way. The cleaning staff saw the predicament, but made no attempt to move the obstructions out of the way. Not a good experience.

A small hotel with a modest breakfast and a swimming pool right in Les Eyzies and a walking distance from the museum of prehistory and many restaurants plus a short drive to the caves with paintings. No restaurant on the premises but it is not necessary. The rooms are modest. Internet access is free and the rooms on the first floor to the left are more likely to have sufficient wireless. Hotel policy discourages hand washing but it is difficult to find a resource for laundry on a weekend. From here one could spend hours walking on the trails or take a canoe/kayak ride on the river.

Room Tip: Look for a room to the left of the front door and on the first floor if good internet access is requ...

A very peaceful hotel. Our 15month old son was welcomed and the cot very clean and comfortable, as was the room. Parking was perfect and the welcome good. breakfast was good. the village was quiet at this end but more life further in, not that we had far to walk. we dined in a small pizzeria/bistro and it was one of the best value meals of our two weeks in France.
