“The hotel we stayed in for 5 times over 4 years!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We love Biarritz and have been coming here every summer for at least a long weekend for 6 years now. For the last 4 years we stayed at Alcyon, a charming family run boutique hotel. Our stay here is excellent every time. We like everything about this place:
- Stylish clean rooms: they are of different shapes and sizes depending on the price category, and even if less expensive rooms might be quite small they are practical and comfortable (that includes good shower and bed, air-conditioning, fast wi-fi and even the availability of ironing equipment in every room), very clean and well maintained over the years and also really good looking.
- Location: is excellent! Alcyon is basically located in the center of the town just 2 minutes off the crowded streets. The central beach, shopping (local souvenires, Lafayette etc. and luxury boutiques) and tens of great restaurants are just within 2-10 min walk.
- Service: great owners Christina and Eric! Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! (and a great looking couple too :)) if you ask them for recommendation, they would not tell you something just to send you off to some place, they would recommend some truely good stuff, make some reservations if you ask, give some practical advices that could save you time. To summarise, they are exactly the opposite to the impersonal commercial approach of the big hotels.
This summer we organised a 45 people party in Biarritz and many of our guests stayed at Alcyon, all of them thanked for the great hotel choice!

Great location, a few minutes walk from the Grande Plage and the town centre.

Now for the rooms : We were on the first floor and needed ear plugs to sleep despite the double glazing. It wasn't possible to leave the window open. Probably the rooms on higher floors are quieter.
Everything else is positive. Rooms fairly small but perfectly clean, very comfortable big bed, tea and coffee making, owners very pleasant.
Would definitely recommend for someone who wants to leave their car in a car park for their stay and walk everywhere.

We visited in October 2012 and could not have been more pleased. For the money we were in a great location on a lesser traveled street. Indeed there is some traffic noise but it is a small city so if you want quiet, you need to stay in the country and waste your time driving in each day. We prefer to walk and were able to easily get around from this great spot. Our room was indeed on the smaller side but it was clean and the bed very comfortable. And the hotel was a very good bargain in our opinion.

Erik was a great host who told us everything we needed to know. He is friendly and knowledgeable. Who wants more than that?? We chose to eat breakfast at a local patisserie for a couple of Euros each morning rather than having a big breakfast we did not need.

Highly recommend both Biarritz and the Alcyon!

A good hotel if you look for good atmospher and good service. Nice rooms, small but well planned with possibility to make your own coffee or tea. the hotel staff, and management are very helpful, taking good care of their guests. The breakfast that is offered is continental and as such good. what made us disappointed was that the beds are narrow, small, and there were no access to the lounge, at the front desk after its closing at 8 p.m.. That was for us a big minus. The hotel is situated at the center of the town only some 200-300 m from the beach. At the beach you can sun chairs, and parasoll, have lunch, take a caffe or just a ice cream. If we'll be back we will stay at the hotel again.

We were immediately welcomed by an extremely helpful man! He checked us in and then proceeded to give us helpful advice about the town and things to do. He took his time and was not pushy - just very pleasant and helpful. The room had nice AC and all the little touches. We were here for 4 nights and loved our time and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: You can take the 1a bus from the gare to just a few steps to the hotel.

The Alcyon is perfectly located with generous room sizes.

At our short stay the hotel staff was extremely service oriented and helped out in several ways.

A high reccomendation.

We had 2 nights at this hotel and loved it. It's very much a boutique type hotel, very stylish and attention to detail is spot on. We had a lovely room, large bed (very comfortable even for myself with back issues) and very ample bathroom with both bath and shower.
Would ABSOLUTELY recommend and would return on next visit to Biarritz. Very charming and helpful hosts THANK YOU!
