“Employees are very kind but the room did not have natural light.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Although the location is very good( exactly opposite of the covered market), and the stuff was very helpful and kind, the room did not even have natural light. The standards for the room were very low regarding space and being so close to the sea, pay a high amount and not even see the sun( let alone the sea), is not acceptable. I regret I did not book Sofitel that the room cost was the same.

Room Tip: Standard room does not necessarily has natural light.

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it. Would I return ABSOLUTELY. The location is fabulous, the staff are fantastic and the rooms are lovely. We have stayed in this lovely little hotel on two occasions now and both times there have been different staff to greet us and both times those members of staff were exceptional. No more to say except would go out of our way to stay here in future we absolutely loved it. Thank you so much for a lovely experience. Will see you again soon.

The Hotel is a beautiful old building with a pleasant garden and small car park, it has been completely modernised to a high standard; decoration is very contemporary. No sea view but only 5 mins walk from the beach. The hotel is directly opposite Biarritz's lovely market and surrrounded by great bars, cafes and restaurants. The staff were all very friendly indeed. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, overlooking the garden.

Once a little French Chateau - now an exquisite beautifully renovated 20 bedroom hotel. Our welcome by David on reception was warm and friendly - we had a late flight in to Biarittz from London Gatwick and were tired and hungry. David said - 'We have been expecting you!' ha ha :) The room we were given was spotless, beautifully decorated and with a shower that was powerful - although we did ask to change the room the next day as it was quite small on the ground floor and were given without a blink of an eye, a stunningly beautiful room with double glazing that completely shut out any noise from the bustling street below. The hotel is set in the hub of the main high street, everywhere we went was utterly gorgeous architecturally and otherwise . The way the town was lit, the beautiful restaurants and bars and lovely people. (Are you feeling the love?! - Haven't finished yet!) The terrace in the hotel is set overlooking a beautiful garden with fresh fig trees (they were delicious to eat!) the garden had comfortable seating and every morning the staff put out pretty cushions on the seats. We went out for breakfast most days but on the last day had breakfast at the hotel - which was quite pricey and could easily be shared between two people as there was too much food! The beach took our breath away with the little restaurants and cafe's dotted along the edge. Great for the surfer types! We walked up to the old lighthouse and walked back through the surf... (very romantic!) It is not a cheap holiday but somewhere very special indeed. The owner of the hotel was present on our last day and gave us an enthusiastic account of the history of the hotel - he was such a lovely affable person. Thoroughly recommend this hotel - can't you tell?! :)

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful - some smaller than others. We a room on the first floor, room 104.

fab hotel, second time we've stayed here and both times we weren't disappointed. Rooms were modern with all the mod cons and is in a great location close to beach and town centre. Best thing about this hotel though are the staff who went out of their way to make sure our stay was memorable. Recommend it

Stayed there twice now - this time for 5 nights as a post work trip wind down. Great spot in the middle of town with a courtyard restaurant with entertainment in the evenings. Step right out the front driveway into the bustling market and shops of old Biarritz and just a couple minutes to beaches that surround the north, west and south sides of the peninsula that wrap this amazing village rich with history. The hotel itself has a rich history and the namesake of the hotel - ask the owners to tell the story in their own soulful way. They have done a great job in mixing old history building with modern feel and amenities.

Tough parts:
1) Internet poor (and dropped completely for long periods) which made keeping up on my work matters challenging.

2) Your first time there - finding it is tough. The GPS in car doesn't work well on the old narrow and convoluted streets of old Biarritz. The the GPS to the heart of town and have a good print out to lead you to the hotel driveway.

We will be back!

Room Tip: Pick a room facing courtyard to ensure no street noise.

Stayed at HdlS for my honeymoon and it met or exceeded all my expectations. First of all, the entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful, yet very professional. We got slightly lost when we arrived and Francis, the front desk manager, not only guided me, but went out on the street to get me and guide me into the hotel. Once checked in, the room was very well decorate with a sleek modern shower and high quality toiletries. The hotel's yard is whimsical and cool serving great food and with a beautiful sunset view. The hotel offers seasonal fruits, peaches in my case. The lovely Manon who took care of us suggested a wonderful rest for dinner, Le Surfing, a 10 min walk from the hotel. Great suggestion! Tue next morning, Sophie, told us about a great breakfast place called Miremont which was top notch. Upon check out Eva shared with me a couple of radio stations considering I could not hook my ipod to the car system. This hotel has a wonderful location in very close proximity to all the major attractions in Biarritz. It is very cozy yet comfortable, has great style and most of all the people that work there are willing to go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. This hotel is worth every penny. I doubt you can find a better value.
