“Superb Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Visited Chez Ospri on a Sat evening with my wife and found the food to be excellent. Starters were tuna carpaccio and foie gras terrine, both well presented and packed with flavour. We followed this with a gambas risotto and fillet steak, again both cooked exceptionally well with great depth in flavour. Overall we though the food was excellent and reasonable value especially in Biarritz. Overall was 120 euro for 3 courses each, bottle of wine and 4 G & T's.

If they are quiet they can rush you by trying to take your plates if you are close to finishing. We took our time over the starters but you could see them watching.

Overall definately worth finding this bistro as the cooking and ingredients are brilliant.

“Very very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

Yes the menu is short - there is a good range though and our dishes were very very good. I'm not a desert lover generally - but the raspberry and chocolate - wow!!!!!!.

No its not Michelin standard but its pretty close. Service was great - only complaint really is that the food came quickly. But then this was late september and there were few customers. I would have liked a slightly slower pace.

Would certainly go there again.

“Fantastic Bistro”

Wonderful food, happy and friendly hosts, cosy atmosphere - go here or miss out on a gem. Reserve or go at opening time as it is very popular.

“Good quality bistro”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Just to keep things in perspective
This is not a michelin star level restaurant
We have been travelling france for weeks and trying them daily
The quality of food is good, the menu limited but lacks the innovation seen in the michelin star restaurants eg the steak is just meat and 3 veg but done well done -good bistro food
The crab raviole is excellent
The price iv very reasonable
La ruelle in angouleme and le 36 at hotel le choiseul in amboise are stand outs as restaurants that deserve a michelin star and chateau de pray's restaurant in amboise, and le pressoir d'argent in bordeaux and amphitryon in limoges were michelin starred and disappointing in comparison

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Excellent restaurant, prompt and thoughtful service, superb food, didn't want to leave. Seriously, how this place hasn't got a Michelin Star yet, i don't know. The staff were attentive and very welcoming, unlike the majority of french staff who grunt and fail to smile. We were welcomed in english, although i look and speak french. we didn't have a booking, but they seated us at one of their reserve tables, and quickly brought an aperitif. There was an amuse bouche before the starter of foie gras, which excelled, not just in flavour but in decoration on the plate. The main course was hake, which was also tasty, which i followed with the Fromage plate. This was four different cheeses, sculpted into slender wedges, which were mouthsized to my delight. Unable for more, we finished with an espresso. The bill was 110 euro for two, which included a bottle of very quaffable rose and a large bottle of evian. Not to be missed!
