“Very good service in a small hotel near center for a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

Me and 3 friends stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is very clean, pretty small but absolutely enough to sleep and relax a bit. The staff was very gentile, and our "mother" as we called the woman of staff, looked for ous very personally.
The hotel is situated next to the centre and was absolutely perfekt (for that price)

Stayed here last June for a pretty much a p**s up! We jumped at booking this hotel when we saw the price and its central location. No other hotel in town can offer this unless you get tricked into the camping sight which is cheap but the taxis in and out will result in you spending more! The hotel for us was literally just for sleeping (recovering) and a base to get changed in between the beach and heading out. Clean rooms with a deadly old lady calling the shots.

Right beside a small supermarket so cheap lunches and breakfasts to be had so we could afford the horrible prices in the pubs.

In short its a clean safe central bed to sleep in and thats all this hotel has and needs to offer when staying in biaritz

Room Tip: Ask for the room beside the reception.. two beds a bathroom (which in fairness when taking a poo it...

My boyfriend and I have just come back from a weekend away in Biarritz. We were here last year so know the area well. We booked this hotel quickly and because it was cheap. Its in a good location and the price is reasonable. The manager is friendly, but it really was a 2 star hotel! The room was SO hot, we stayed in the top of the building and there was no releif from the heat and we couldn't sleep very well at all because of the noise - the bars surrounding the hotel make it very loud at night and shutting the window isn't an option because its so sweltering inside. The bathroom was also pretty rubbish, with the toilet rocking from side to side! Tea and coffee facilities though, which was a plus. Good on a budget if you don't mind a bit of noise, not great if you want a romantic/relaxing one.

Room Tip: Book elsewhere - we won't be coming back. There are simply better hotels in Biarritz.

Very friendly and helpful owner/manager,great price and well located for the beach, restaurants etc. But, if you like a bit of fresh air at night (and the rooms do get hot with no aircon or even a fan) then you better have some earplugs. The noise from the restaurants and bars goes till around 3 pm and is closely followed by the street sweepers and delivery trucks for the market.

Firstly the directions need a little work...

From the train station walk outside across the street and hop on either the A1 or number 10 Bus. Get off at Biarritz Central (called something like mieling look at the bus station map and figure it out.) alright so your off the bus. you are on Av Louis Barthou. your probably facing a little bus station kiosk. turn around, take the first street on the right. At the end of this street turn left. you are on Av Edouard VII Cross the street. your first look at the water. nice.

continue along Edouard VII past the first little side street leading down to cafes, the casino and the beach. Take the next street on the right. You are on PL. Georges Clemenceau. continue along this street as it soon becomes Rue Gambetta. The keenest of eyes might spot a white building with Hotel St. james written on it. Others can walk past caffe azoka turn left past the caffe enterance and into the little doorway. this is st james.

So the door is unlocked. cool. walk in up the stairs and check in at reception. oh no bro. the door is locked. read on to choose your own adventure...

If you have a phone call the number written on the door. you will be given a code and your room is probably unlocked upstairs. check yourself in.

If you have a phone card but no phone.... walk up the street and you will find a phone booth. phone cards only. ring the number that you wrote on your sweaty palm and repeat above.

If you have no phone or phone card. then get out your laptop whip out skype and call the number add a +33 to get a french dialling code. the pword. Azokacaffe should help...

The Hotel itself is clean and nice. it can get a little loud when the men heat up the bar across the street. The wifi is touch and go upstairs. sometimes painfully slow. Supermarket up the street is handy.

Our second time in town, and we keep on staying in this part of town. Great location next door to the Les Halles(market). The rroms altough smaller than in photos, are nice and comfortable.
The worst thing the 3 floors without elevator with two kids and al the staff!!
Breakfast included in the price isn't a great thing:a muffin and solouble coffee and no possibility of having it in the cafeteria.
But you have a bar just at the door of the hotel and another couple opposite the street, but my recommendation is to enter Les Halles and to have a coffee and a ham sandwich by less than 5 euros, altough you probabilly won't be able to sit down it is a great atmosphere. And don't forget to but some cheese.
Laura the landowner was very helpful and friendly with us, we will come back for sure,
Anyway, nice stay

Room Tip: 3rd floor views are better but you have to go up, no elevator

Pretty cheap rooms with a good location close to les halles and great resataurants and a short walk to both beaches. There are better options for the same price in Biarritz. The "breakfast tray" in the room was horrible, a disgusting plastic muffin and nescoffe.
