“Wonderful stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2014

Cruise stopped here for two days. Lovely place. Steeped in history and the wine trade. Tucked halfway up an otherwise homely river, Bordeaux is a tourist's gem - not too crowded, plenty to do and see.

“A great place to visit at night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2014

We were coming back from watching the sun set at Dune du Pilat, so we knew we would see the Port of the Moon at night. It was worth it! Parking was easy at a lot behind the Bourse and underground. We loved the view of the Bourse and other buildings at night. I didn't realize from my readings about the place that there would be so many restaurants nearby. It was really fun to see all the people enjoying the many food establishments and milling about. We stopped for sorbets and enjoyed the rest of our evening.

“Unesco world heritage site for good reason”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

The old area of Bordeaux is port of the moon and is it is the a world heritage site. Bordeaux has c 347 listed buildings under a law of 1913. The port of the moon encompasses the old town and this area is undoubtedly why so many visitors come to see Bordeaux.
We had not expected the scale, beauty or functionality of the old area- it has been so well managed and protected and is a credit to those who have managed to do so.
The river front is a fantastic asset. While we were there, it was the end of he Bordeaux wine festival and despite sectioned-off areas the water area was still wide, boulevard-style, with cafes and restaurants further down. The grass lined tramways are a lovely site. We saw birds of prey over the river and a sight I have never seen, one with prey in its talons, eating and flying at the same time.
The Borse, Miroir d'eau and the old town is a wonderful place to visit. There are many old buildings to see as you walk around- would definitely return.

“Wonderful promenade”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

The mayor of Bordeaux has since 1996 managed to revitalise this once depressing river-front into a lovely open and green space along which families and couples promenade at all times of day and night. It now feels safe and serene, much different from the industrial/dirty past. How lovely!

“Interesting Boat Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

We booked this tour through the Tourist Office and also hoped that moving around on the water would cool us down, but no such luck. The tour was good, largely due to the excellent guide whose sense of humour and panache made this a memorable trip.
