“Basic luxury - luxurious on basics”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2014

Synopsis: If your hostelling/backpacking or on a budget go for it, it serves this market.
If not, STAY AWAY. I checked out and went to the IBIS hotel down past the Best Western, lovely hotel

The area - you need your wits about you, seedy lap dance shops, & lots of noise at night.
The Reception - Sauna like, (air stuffy)..... It must be a furnace during the summer.
The Staff - generally they don't break a sweat to help you, (You don't need a qualification from the hotel industry to work here) They do "their" job, they give you breakfast times, room keys, etc, however deviate from "their basic list" - forget it,
The Room - clean bed, small bathroom. NO AIR CONDITION, Rooms roasting, and cleaned every 3 days
The Kitchenette - NO KETTLE. but a saucepan to boil water, very handy !!!!!!!!!

On a different note you will pass a cafe 48 Huit (I think) fabulous place to go for a snack and if you need to sit down and reassess your situation before checking out.

We (2 Adults & 4 teenagers) booked 2 rooms in the Teneo. The rooms were nice, clean and quiet. The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk from Gare St Jean from where you can catch a tram to Bordeaux Centre. There are lots of decent restaurants in & around Gare St Jean. The Teneo is a great base for touring Bordeaux. I recommend it unreservedly.

Room Tip: The four bed room is a fine sized room. The 2 person bedroom is quite small

If you just want something convenient, clean and close to the station this is ideal and we'll priced. It has a kitchenette too. Room is a bit spartan and ours was a bit noisy being right on a very busy road. It isn't far from all the attractions in town and is well served by buses and trams and easy walk to the main railway station. Staff (when someone is there, check hours when you book as they close for lunch and in the evening) were ok but don't go out of their way for you. Room very big and clean but could have at least provided an electric kettle.

Room Tip: Avoid the main road side

We recently stayed in a 4-person family room at this Teneo apartment complex. We were staying for one night at the end of our holiday in France, arriving by train and continuing to the airport the next morning. We needed a good value room close to the train station but also to the city centre, as we wanted to look around Bordeaux that evening. When booking a room for a family of 5 (children aged 5, 8 and 10) I initially had extreme difficulties as most places in Bordeaux won't allow a 3rd child. Having to get 2 rooms would have made our trip a lot more expensive. Teneo was one of the few in our price range that let all 5 of us stay. They did not provide an extra bed but we were easily able to accommodate our youngest daughter, there were extra blankets too, but we didn't need them. I'm glad we weren't put off by some of the bad reviews on the internet. For the price the apartment was perfect for us. The family apartment had 2 large interconnecting rooms with double beds, a TV, a dining area with table and chairs, a small kitchen corner with fridge and a large bathroom with shower and double sinks. Windows were to the rear overlooking a courtyard, which was very quiet. The decor of the apartment was quite modern, if maybe a bit tired (a missing socket hadn't been replaced for example) and the shower curtain wasn't long enough (allowing water to flood the place if not careful), but generally the room had a nice feel and was a lot better than we had expected for the price. There were nice fluffy towels provided and even shampoo. Since we had just spent two weeks in (expensive) mobile homes on French campsites, this was a welcome 'luxury'. Staff at reception were helpful and friendly, even rang a taxi company to enquire about the price for airport transfer. The reception is not open during the night, unlike in most hotels though. The area is a bit run-down looking, there are lots of take-aways (cheap kebabs and pizzas!) and a few sex shops, so maybe not suited for single female travellers, but we walked into the city centre with the kids, were back by 10pm and had no problems at all. There are several shops nearby, including a large Spar, Lidl and a Carrefour supermarket. It is ca. 5 mins walk to the train station, handy for catching the airport bus or a train. The Tram to the city centre also stops ca. 2 mins walk away. Place de la Victoire with some nice bars is also only about 5 mins walk. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose the Teneo again, actually we were sorry we hadn't booked for two nights as Bordeaux is such a nice city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing away from the street, we were on third floor overlooking a quiet courtyard

We were due to head for airport early next morning and needed a place that was inexpensive and handily situated between station and main restaurant and bar area. Teneo was more spacious than you would expect for the price, clean and had all the facilities we required. Hassle-free reception and checkout, just what we wanted. Under those circumstances, we would use again.

Room Tip: Our junior suite was ideal. There was enough room for a friend to stay, if required.

Awful experience. Awful service especially the manager. Awful quality. Will ruin your trip. Lazy cleaning. Too hot. No screen on window, hence mosquito bites and probably infections. Never again. Stay away.

Room Tip: Do not stay!

the hours for the front desk are very limited. the kitchen was spacely equiped; no cloth or rack to dry dishes! located in the red light district. there is a supermarket one block away. quiet , no noise disturbances but used condom wrappers in the hall!
