Sunday morning, Bordeaux and too few places are open to eat well at 10.00am. I did not want the standard continental breakfast and substandard coffee that you usually get in a hotel. PLUME small kitchen provides a more than substantial breakfast that will keep you going all day. You may think €18.50 sounds expensive but you get a big bowl of fromage frais with granola and fresh fruit , we had apples, kiwis, raspberries and cranberries in ours: a lemon and poppy seed cake, a fruit scone, jam, maple syrup, some fresh salad, cheese, bread some baked beans and a hot, perfectly poached egg and ham muffin, tea or coffee and a large glass of the fruit juice of the day (apple and grape for us). We struggled to eat it all and were given a bag to take our cake with us. The staff are lovely and it's no surprise to find that this place is very busy on a sunday morning. It's a wonderful little place, simply done in old café style, very welcoming. We were heading off to the other side of town but when I am in Bordeaux again I would like to try their lunch menu. Close to the Cathedral resrvations not accepted on a Sunday morning so get there before it gets too busy. It opens at 10.00am.
