“Conveniently located.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

The Majestic maintains the building's original feel and architecture, while providing nicely updated rooms. Our room was a bit tight with us plus luggage but not the smallest we stayed in on our trip, the bathroom was spacious and nicely updated. I also requested, and received, a room that overlooks the interior courtyard area which is nice and quiet. The staff is bilingual and very helpful, especially when trying to park a car in their parking garage, which is the smallest thing I've ever seen! (If you need a place to park, reserve a spot well in advance. There are only 5 or 6 spaces available and nothing outside on the street.) Do yourself a favor, ditch the car and take the tram -- its much more convenient and the streets tend to be quite congested. Our only complaint was the sheer volume of teenagers in the morning and afternoon that hang around. I believe there is a school just across the street and they block the road and sidewalks like cattle milling about, it can be hard/irritating to maneuver around them.

This reasonably priced hotel was in a great location - 2 short blocks from the Grand Theatre and the Esplanade des Quinconces. Hotel was clean, breakfast was good and staff was friendly bilingual and helpful. GREAT VALUE!

Room Tip: King bed overlooking street but windows had to be closed to keep noise out.

A cozy place in a good location. Staff was friendly. Car park accommodates 5 cars very tightly- I had a mid-sized car and had to back into the parking to ensure I could get out - the desk receptionist helped by guiding me in. Continental breakfast was fine. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

The Majestic has a perfect location near two tram stops, two blocks from the river (there is a broad walkway that is perfect for walking or running), and very close to many dozens of restaurants and cafes. One might think that it would be loud in such a location, but this is not the case: it is quiet as the tomb (at least if you ask for a room on the inner courtyard- ours was room 213 and I would recommend it). The cost of the hotel was very reasonable considering the level of service, size of the room, and location. In short, I doubt I will ever look for a different hotel in Bordeaux, and I highly recommend the Majestic.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the inner courtyard to avoid street noise.

Only other comment I would make other than totally agree with previous posts as to friendly, safe area, clean etc. is that the double bed is actually a queen as we are used to in America. So many smaller hotels when they say double, they mean double not queen or king. Very comfortable and recently refurbished.

Found this hotel in the heart of Bordeaux to be excellent on the following counts:
1 - Superb location in the centre of the city. Just around the corner from the Opera and the Tourist Office and a few minutes walk from the major sites, shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Ideal!
2 - Really nice rooms, good size, very comfortable bed with great bathroom and overhead shower. Although our room fronted on to the Rue De Conde it was still very quiet and restful.
3 - All the staff we encountered could not have been nicer or more helpful and had fantastic English if you needed it - there were a few Americans staying whilst we were there and they don't speak French much!
4 - Great breakfast with plenty of choice for everyone and they always ensured that everything was replenished quickly and tables cleared as soon as people had finished.
The only drawback we found was the lack of adjacent parking if one has a car. They only have a very small garage and as it was full during our stay we were advised by the hotel to get a special parking ticket from the Tourist Office to park in the nearest public car park. This was down by the river and although we managed it was a nightmare trying to unload/load luggage at the hotel entrance. This is not the Majestic's fault as it is a major and very busy city, so we did not expect too much, but if you are driving strongly recommend you book a parking space in advance.
Cannot recommend the Majestic highly enough and it's now the only hotel I'd stay at in Bordeaux!

Room Tip: Room 306 was ideal for us - plenty of room and quiet as well!

We booked this hotel at the VERY last minute during high season, and we got REALLY lucky.

There's A/C, parking, the rooms were clean, and its' centrally located. If you don't want to eat the breakfast supplied at the hotel, there are a ton of options within walking distance (fewer options on Sundays).

If you don't print out directions to the hotel, and you forgot to write down the address (like we did) and peeled into town with the rental car and followed the signs that said "Centre Ville", you can ask people how to get to the main tourist office (around the corner from the hotel).

No one will know where this little gem of a hotel (or the street that it's on). You'll need Google Maps to get you to the right spot, it's a little tricky if you're trying to wing it (or via printed map) - there's a lot of one way streets...
