I'm from wine distric in Czech rep. named Znojmo, is on borders between CZ and Austria and we don't have anything like that. Beautiful and simple place where u can choose between 10-15 kind of glass of wine, waiters will let u know what u should smell and taste, you can take glass for 2-3 Euros and the wine will be awesome :))) have fun!

“It is a must when in Bordeaux !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

It's set up as a cafe so you don't taste a miniscule amounts of any wine for free but you pay for a full, big glass of your chosen wine. The prices are very good - much lower than at the restaurants. There is a big selection of wines for tasting (the best of the region) and absolutely delicious too! To help you on your adventure staff members ask you about your likes and dislikes and choose what happens to be the exact thing you want to drink. You might not ask any questions but feel encouraged to do so and ask as many as you can - lots of much needed information is to be gained: about the wine, terrain, classification etc. Ask for Guillaume - very knowledgable young gentelman who is also patient and enjoys investigative customers. And above all - you'll be served the best glass of wine ever! Well, actually more like 3 best ;-) or more ...

“Beautiful, cozy and chic wine bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is a very comfortable wine bar and lounge, offering a good selection of regional Bordeaux wines by the glass, at very good prices. They also offer accompanying cheese and meat plates to pair with the wine. This is a great opportunity to try a Grand Cru for a very good price. Would recommend stopping by and relaxing in the afternoon in one of their cool chairs.

“J'ADORE OHLALA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

I am loving this place. If you love wine but you don't have enough time to go to the vineyards, nah you know what even if you're not a huge wine lover, it's still worth a visit.

They sell wines by the glass and surprisingly cheap and good! Yes they do have the more expensive ones but for 2-3 Euros per glass you can already enjoy some good wines. extraordinary! They also sell variety of 'snacks', cheeses, charcuterie to go with your wine, again, in a very affordable price.

I was a bit taken aback at first by the atmosphere of an expensive-looking wine bar and decided to just have one or two glasses, might as well, but ended up staying there for 3-5 hours and another 2 hours the next day.

Do come earlier though as it's getting really packed at night (7pm ish onwards), I saw people was lining up outside just to get a seat! The difference was day and night (literally) when I came it was around 4 and it was quite empty. I'm missing this place...

“Gorgeous wine bar!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Maison du Vin is probably the best wine bar in Bordeaux. It's housed in a beautiful old building with stain glass windows. You'd expect the glamourous setting to mean the drinks were expensive, but they're actually incredibly affordable with glasses starting from 2 euros. The staff are very helpful and, if like me you know nothing about wine, are happy to describe and recommend something that might be to your taste.
