“Good rooms - but thats it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

Check in and out were smooth and room was standard clean IBIS room with a comfortable bed. Location is about 15 minutes by car from the centre and parking at the hotel is free.

Downsides:
- Free wifi not usable - speeds were so low that most Apps indicate that there is no internet connection and stopped. Not possible to book a next hotel.
- Is a business hotel where room cleaning starts early and cleaning staff do not seem to take into account that there could be guests still trying to sleep

Honestly this hotel was very up market in my opinion, the view from the window was overlooking the lake.

We checked in with no problems at all, we were given a pass code for the secure parking for no extra cost.

Free Wi-Fi provided in the rooms etc.

We went for a lovely evening meal at the hotel's restaurant, The Steak was ordered medium rare, however I deemed it to be just rare..... Being a tourist who speaks little French, I was willing to overlook this and take the positive that at least it confirmed I DEFINATELY do not like rare steak!!! :-)

Just 2 miles from the town centre makes this an affordable and pleasant stay! :-)

We found this hotel quite easily and parked. However, at reception we were given a passcode and recommended that we take our car round the back to the gated car park. The room we were given was large with a comfortable bed, plenty of storage space and long shelving surface for writing etc. There was also a small sofa for two as well as a chair for the desk area. The bathroom has a very low toilet, but nice sink and hairdryer as well as a comfortable walk in shower. Squeezy soap in dispensers was good in both the shower and at the sink. The receptionist and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant also the breakfast room was circular and off the large reception area. Food for breakfast was plentiful and a good choice.
It was also peaceful and not crowded but we may have be lucky because it was early in the year.
A very pleasant experience and would not hesitate to use it again.

The Le Lac complex on the North side of Bordeaux is a big exhibition centre and conference centre built around a lake. The area is home to a group of hotels, mostly belonging to the Accor group. We saw Ibis, Ibis Budget, F1, Novotel, Mercure and Pullman. There was also a Logis and a Campanile. Obviously in the week the whole area is full of business people attending events at the conference and exhibition centres.

The Ibis has slightly bigger rooms than usual and a full bathroom with bath. However, please could the Accor management take note that their unpleasant soap dispensers hung at shower height are useless if trying to wallow in a bath! The on-site restaurant is a branch of Courtpaille and as such provides a good evening meal.

We were delighted to be given a room that overlooked the lake, a very pleasant view. However, we were fortunate to be staying on a Saturday night. There is a major construction project in front of the hotel. They are obviously building a railway to connect the exhibition centre with the centre of Bordeaux. No work was being done at the weekend but on weekdays the construction noise would obviously be a major nuisance. The railway work is in progress directly in front of the Novotel, the Pullman and the Ibis so travellers beware!.

Room Tip: Beware the construction work in front of the hotel. This could seriously compromise sleep quality.

We stayed in this hotel on 31/12/12 [new years eve] en route to Spain. We rang the day before to book a table in the attached restaurant Courtpaille [the main reason for booking this hotel], to be told it would be closed but the bar and 24 hour service would be open.
' Our teams are here to streamline your stay. We've got a 24 hour reception, an ibis kitchen serving hot and cold dishes day or night and a non-stop bar.' AS THEIR WEBSITE SAYS.
As we were aware the restaurant would be closed we went to a supermarket and bought some food. On arrival I asked for a beer [6 euros] and a glass of white wine, I was told I could have a beer but no wine as the she did not know the price. We went to the local area to try to buy a bottle of wine without success. On returning we noticed 2 members of staff watching the TV and drinking wine, when I asked again for a beer and wine, I was told they only had one bottle of white wine they could sell me for 20 Euros. We bought the wine but felt rather ripped off. Usual Ibis hotel, handy for the moterway, shame about some members of staff.

The hotel is well placed for my requirements. The staff are friendly, the rooms are larger than most in this category, It has a good restaurant and a very good buffet breakfast. Lots to do in the area, casinos, shopping, and walking. Easy access to main highway.
