“Lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

A fantastic bed and breakfast in a great location for exploring historic Bordeaux. It is a short stroll into the centre of Bordeaux, but on a quiet street. The rooms are lovely, very big for a french b&b as well, really well presented and clean. The bed is very comfortable and good quality bedlinen - I had a wonderful night's sleep. Breakfast was also really enjoyable and Agathe and her partner provide a very helpful service - they both speak English and were tolerant of our attempts to speak in French. My only regret is we could only stay one night but we will return for a longer stay I am sure. Thanks!

The location is good (about 15minutes walking from the old town), great service, amazing breakfast and really nice rooms, although the heat can be a problem during summer.
If you stay here try to have dinner at Les Sommeliers, right next.

This is a very nice and reasonably priced B&B (chambre d'hotes) a few kilometers away from the center of Bordeaux. Agathe is very sweet and helpful and makes a nice, somewhat different French breakfast, including home-made yogurt, home-made cakes and fresh-squeezed orange juice. The room was also well designed, modern (though the building is probably quite old) and very clean. Being a chambre d'hotes with only 5 rooms, you get the personal touch that hotels can't offer. All in all a nice place to stay.

we stayed at Les Seraphines for two nights in late June and really enjoyed the room, the place, the quiet but near-to-things neighborhood, the yummy breakfast, and most of all, Agathe--she was incredibly helpful with whatever we needed. Great place!

I booked into les seraphine because I wanted to experience something with a French flavour rather than the usual hotel and I was not disappointed. Agathe was a wonderful host and very helpful answering all of our questions, recommending restaurants for dinner and how to catch the local bus to the airport which was way cheaper than the 40 Euro cab fare on our arrival. The bedrooms although simply furnished were very comfortable and very clean. The breakfast room was lovely and the breakfast excellent. The locatin was good and an easy walk into the old town where ther are lots of great restaurants. I would recommend this place to others And hope I can go back one day.

Others have already noted the warmth and courtesy that Agatha, the proprietor, radiates. One feels completely at ease in this small, comfortable and charming B&B. Each of the five rooms is decorated in a somewhat whimsical yet tasteful style. The nicely appointed common room, where breakfast is taken, also offers a small lounge area for conversation, relaxing, reading, or making one's self a cup of tea or coffee. Les Seraphines makes no pretension of being a luxury inn, but don't take that the wrong way: it is spotlessly clean, up-to-date (with free WiFi), reasonably priced, and accommodating in all of the best ways. The establishment is in a very quiet residential neighborhood, yet just 15 minutes by foot from many of Bordeaux's attractions. It is a lovely oasis for the traveler who, after a day of the excitement of discovery, is ready for a quiet and civilized place to rest one's head.

Les Seraphines is no longer run by Emmanuelle and Florence. Andrea is the new owner and hostess, and she is such a delight that it's almost worth renting a room there just to chat with her about "her" Bordeaux. She'll go out of her way to guide you and help solve any problems you might have.

The B and B, however, is pretty basic. There are five rooms--the best on the 1st (US 2nd) floor, three on the 2nd, and the attic (which I did not see). They're all quiet, clean and well maintained, but they're furnished in Early Ikea, and our room (#2) did not have a bath room with a door that closed. The others did, I think, but ours slid like one on a closet to cover (your choice) either the toilet or the shower.

If you want toiletries or hard soap, bring them, but there is Kleenex. Breakfasts are the usual French continental type (coffee, juice, breads) supplemented by a small dish of apple compote. One morning, Andrea did bake a banana/apple bread loaf, which was delicious. There is free wi-fi in the rooms, and the signal is reasonably strong. There are no English channels on the tiny TV (but who cares?).

The location, on a quiet street, makes it a good retreat from the bustle of Bordeaux, but the whole city is within easy walking distance. There's also a modern transit service that can whisk you almost anywhere you want to go.

Bordeaux is an up and coming city. Buildings are being cleaned, the new transportation system is excellent, there are many things to do and see. Don't miss the FREE museum on the history of the area--fascinating and beautifully laid out. And in town there are so many restaurants to choose from that the mind boggles--French (of course), Japanese, Chinese, Moroccan, Irish, Spanish . . . You name it. And everywhere, you see young people. It's a vibrant place to visit.

So, I'd recommend Les Seraphines above all for its hostess, but do not expect luxury.
