“A hidden gem....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We have visited the Tio Pepe a few times now and are always pleased with the efficient service and great food - our visit today was no different.

Offering a good quality fixed price menu the meals are varied and of a high standard ranging from steak and chips (a French essential) to a delicious aubergine gratin or mussels. Wine by the pichet is also a good accompaniment.

Sitting out on the pavement on this lovely quiet Bordeaux street is always a pleasure and very relaxing. The restaurant is not too big and service is always pleasant and welcoming.

“An excellent accidental find...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We arrived in Bordeaux early one evening after a full days travel. We'd just wanted somewhere for a quick bite to eat without anything elaborate. The receptionist at our hotel recommended a place but we couldn't find it - on trying to retrace our steps, we stumbled across Le Tio Pepe.

What a find....! It's a very pleasant pavement type cafe with a varied but simple menu, sited in a quiet back street a short distance from the town centre. Not exactly a typically french choice but the wife had moussaka and I had steak and chips. washed down with a demi-pichet of excellent house red, followed by a couple of lovely tarte citron and coffees. I should add that the menu contains more traditional French cuisine with duck and cheese dishes available.

Service was pleasnt and efficient and the place was spotlessly clean

We returned a couple of nights later for an equally enjoyable meal and in all honesty we'd have gone back again on the Sunday night, had it been open.

Bordeaux is not short of good restaurants but this place is well worth a visit if you're in the area.

“Not excellent food only”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

Visiting Bordeaux last weekend (Saturday September 1) we decided to pick this restaurant for dinner strolling through the small streets looking for a "French bistro type of restaurant". Great food at reasonable prices and a very nice and friendly staff - good value. But not only that, back at the hotel I discovered that I had left my sunglasses behind. I turned out that the restaurant was closed on Sunday, but I put a letter in their mailbox asking them to ship my sunglasses if they found them and believe it or not, yesterday I could pick them up at the post office. Thank you
monsieur DEVIENNE. We will certainly spread the rumours and visit you next time we come to Brordeaux. //Agneta R

“Great quality for a small prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

By coincidence we stumbled onto this small restaurant.

As the weather was good we took a table outside.
We had 2 different menus, which were great quality, local products and excellent preparation.

Nice and efficient staff made the meal one to remember.

“Good Food, Good wine, Great Prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

2 standard menus, one €15, the other €19 as well as an a la carte. Great variety of dishes to choose from and the standard of food was superb. Tried a few other restaurants, but this was the best by far for price.
