1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

We are a family of five and had booked in for three nights during August. We have stayed in apart-hotels in other cities and know what to expect. This place misdescribes itself. It is fairly cheap but not cheerful. Our "apart" consisted of two bedrooms, one bathroom and a tiny kitchenette with a table. No living area. The place was dirty. The furnishings were ancient and knocked-about. The kitchenette lacked basic crockery for eating. The fridge was very dodgy. Some windows did not have shutters and other shutters were broken. There is no air conditioning. The corridors are dark and gloomy. The reception staff were moody and unhelpful. You need to book parking in advance even though the website says that you don't. If you don't book you have to pay on a meter in the street. We did not stay and went to a halfway decent hotel instead.

We had not expected such a nice room for the price we paid. We got a twin room with a little bathroom and a kitchenette. It would definitely be a good option for someone staying a week or longer in Strasbourg - we only stayed one night so we did not put the kitchenette to great use.
The place is a little anonymous, with so many rooms.
We didn't go for breakfast here as we thought 8 euro was too expensive for a hotel breakfast.
The location is great, near Place de la Republic, which would be a nice place for backpackers to bring their picnic during the day!
certainly not the height of luxury but clean, comfortable and in a safe area, definitely to be recommended.

spent 2 nights here and enjoyed it. the rooms where the right size with lovely bathrooms, the beds where comfy and the blinds where great as you could black out the rooms at night! the only downside was i found it hard to get onto the internet but i was too busy to go to the reception and ask so its my fault really. the receptionist where both lovely and helpful. would defiantly stay again,

No air conditioning. This could be a deal breaker for some in July/August, (I had a cold shower). Apart from this the hotel was fine. The small studio room (with tv) was very clean, the breakfast: cereal, juices, cold meats, cheese, croissants, coffee, yoghurt etc..was good & the hotel was less than 5 mins from the nearest tram -parc du contades. Hotel reviews fared better on booking sites with 'verified guests' than tripadvisors 'unverified' guests- which nearly had me cancelling the next day ! The Cap Europe hotel is suitable for solo travellers, students & budget tourists. I paid just £30 a night WITH breakfast (July 2013) with Hotelopia booking site. This was the best price online. 'Walk-in off the street' price is 70 euros without breakfast ! I was expecting the worst after reading some of the reviews on here but it was fine. The price I paid certainly cushioned missing the A/C but this shouldn't be a problem bar the summer months.

We stayed for one night only, being in town for a week-end. We were given a huge room, spotless clean, as it was the bathroom.
No frills but all the basics you need : big soft towels, a soap, comfortable beds.
I think the hotel has been recently restored as bathrooms and floors looked pretty new.

It is located in a very quiet area, at 5 minutes walk from the tram stop that will take you to the city centre, while this latter is at 10 minutes walk.
The hotel is also very close to the main synagogue, so if you are a practicing Jewish this should be a good choice for you.

Last but not least, rates in low season are extremely competitive, we payed 40 euros the room.

Staff were OK.

Drawbacks: no A/C, corridors are a bit dark.

This was a clean, cheap hostel that suited us perfectly for our travels. When travelling on a budget location and cleanliness is most important to me and both were met in this hostel. Overall we were generally satisfied and found our way around the area due to a friend living there. However if you don't know Strasbourg the staff are pretty useless so get a good map or travel guide. I would only recommend on basis of price.

The price is oke for limited budget. The room is not clean. Space of the bathroom is very small. Breakfast is very standard, the utensil is not clean enough. No AC. No Wifi at room. Not recommend if you stay with little children.
