I stay in the Ciarus twice a year when travelling to Strasbourg for meetings. The accommodation is fairly basic, the sheets are clean and the shower is eccentric. Generally very good value for money, but definitely not a place for a quiet romantic break. The food is pretty good - a wide range of hot and cold options served in the canteen restaurant. If you're coming as part of a school party, you'll have a great time! If you're a bit older, the presence of so many excited teenagers can be a bit tiring. The European Parliament meets in the city on four days per month; accommodation is very hard to find on these days so check well in advance.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, wish hostels had tv tho!
The food was ok, it was exactly like school dinners and i think it was pasta with sauce every night and croissants every morning!
Lots of other school parties there, so it was a bit noisy at times and the games room in the basements needs some updating!
For a hostel its good, and the locations if very near the town centre of Strasbourg, the cathedral etc!
Strasbourg is lovely!

i stayed at ciarus for one night on a quick stopover in strasbourg. first of all the hostel is huge. the location and price are very good. as well the room i had was one of the nicest hostel rooms i’ve ever stayed it. very clean with bunkbeds. also each bed had linens and a towel. i had a room with 8 beds though there were only 4 of us. though the beds are very close together. if someone was in the bed night to you it would almost feel like they were in the same bed. there is just a short wall covering your upper body that divides the two beds. each bed has it’s own reading light which was nice. there is a private shower, toilet and 3 sinks in each room. there are no lockers. the people i shared a room with were all students with laptops using the hostel as a temporary residence. so this isn’t a partying type of place. it was very quiet at night. the reception was rather unhelpful though. the women there didn’t speak much english and even when i figured out the translation and she understood what i was talking about she just said to come back when the next clerk started. also she didn’t tell me that breakfast was apparently included and that the checkout time was 9am. in the town i would recommend doing the canal tour. a bit touristy but it allows you to see a lot of strasbourg.

We were a student group of 6 and had a great time at the Ciarus Hostel. Conveniently located, it has all the major amenities for a hostel: a cafe/restaurant, a bar, wireless internet downstairs (1 Euro/Day), a laundry room etc. The rooms were fine and clean.
