“Great Location, Ideal for 1-2 nights”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

The IBIS is in a great location and easy to get to from Strasbourg airport, 15 minutes on the train max. If you want to see Strasbourg for a view days i would highly recommend it, One let down was the poor breakfast in the morning, it was certainly not worth it! They city is a very cool place with lots to do. Certainly worth a look.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

My wife and I were travelling in a tour-group and we were booked into the hotel by the tour company. It is, as its name suggests, directly across the square from the railway station and about 300m away.

Our room was on the small side but comfortable and had everything we needed for a short stay. It was on a corner of the hotel so the two windows looked onto different streets. It was disquieting to find a notice by each window stating that security chains should be used or the hotel would not accept responsibility for theft.

The bathroom was small but well laid out and toiletries were available. The bathroom door would not latch and the drain in the shower ran very slowly so that you showered with your feet in about 50mm of water. I reported both to the staff and was thanked.

As we lay in bed we noticed that we could hear people talking as they passed by even though both windows were closed. They were not a problem but we were woken at an early hour by refuse collectors clattering bins and shouting to each other. That spoiled the stay.

This IBIS was in a very Convenient Location for our Short break.
Very Close to the Station and within a 10 minute walk of the Old town Area and most Bus and Tram Lines.

The sunset view from the hotel was quite relaxing and the Room was Clean and a Decent Size.
The room was also Quiet. There is No Tea or Coffee facilities but the Restaurant downstairs makes a good Espresso.

There are a few Nice Restaurants and Coffee Shops around the Corner.

Parking was a 10 minute walk away and not to expensive with the Discount given at the Hotel. We did however use the Parking Garage at the Station just to Check in and you get 30 Minutes free and this is right opposite the Hotel.

Room Tip: Station View is Very Relaxing a Sunset.

Our hotel room was most importantly close to the main train station in Strasbourg. It was within walking distance to "Le Petit France" and also close to the tram (beneath the train station). The room was small, compared to American standards, yet adequate for a place to shower and sleep for two people. The lock for the door was a keypad with a security code, instead of a key card with a magnetic strip. Staff was available 24 hours and fluent in English. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, as it was a quick walk across the street to the station where there were a few cafes to get a quick pastry and coffee. Overall, good for sightseers and those on a budget.

I tend to stay in Ibis wherever I go, because it's an ok chain, probably not super, no luxuries, just a clean environment. In Strasbourg (and generally in France) they have the best yoghurt for breakfast and one day last week, we had CAVIAR. That' s highly unusual.

Please understand, there at least two type of Ibis hotels next to each other.
My review is for the least expensive, basic one (blue logo).
If you keep in mind this brand offers a basic, comfortable room, then I am ready to review as one of the best hotels in the world.
Seriously, we were is Strasburg as a family for a weekend. Other hotels did not have the rooms we needed or the rates were as expensive as they can be. Not even in Moscow they had such high rates.
Ibis Budget was clean and spacious for four of us. No fancy rooms but not expensive rates. Breakfast was included and it was no different than a quick weekday breakfast at home. There are several places to eat full breakfast nearby but it worked for us very well.
Also, the hotel is about 70 mts from Strasburg main train station.

Special mention about the hotel staff. We dealt we three different ones and all three were kind, helpful and well mannered. I deeply believe that more expensive hotels throughout France should send their employees to be trained at this hotel.

No doubt, staying at this hotel made Strasburg an even more beautiful city.
