“An outstanding experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

We stayed 9 nights in the hotel ' this August.
I wuold like to point out that I have been travelling all over the world in the last 45 years and the Hannong hotel was the most wellcoming , family like of all the hotels in which I stayed.
First , the hotel is located at the center of Starasbourg , at a walking distance from all the high lights. The rooms are aircoditioned. The hotel was recently renovated.
The breakfast is huge and tasty. The exceptional thing about the hotel is that every logical request is being fullfilled right away ! for examle , we asked for fresh vgetables for breakfast and the next morning we received tomatos and quecambers every day ! In every evening we received a cattle for making tea.
All the staff was very friendly , cooperative and sympathetique. All the staff speaks 3 langueges.
The hotel has an agreement with a nearby parking , at reasonable price.
In light of the above , I urge everybody who plans to visit in Strasbourg to stay in HANNONG hotel !

We booked our reservation online & requested early check-in. We arrived at 9am on Aug 12 2013 via an overnight train and were welcomed into our room immediately (the staff told us that it helps them if guests communicate special needs in advance, which is what we did). The staff was very friendly and professional and gave us recommendations for getting around the city. The location is superb - easy walking distance with luggage from the main train station, and a few minutes' walk from the tourist sites. Nice breakfast buffet with attentive staff. Bank teller machines down the street and open (flea) markets a few minutes away on Place Kleber. We recommend this hotel very highly.

Reading the other reviews of this hotel make me wonder if perhaps we just had bad luck and our situation was a one off....

The hotel building itself was beautiful and very well located. The rooms were small but comfortable.

A few things happened to us during our stay that would not allow me to recommend this hotel. First of all, I was using the washroom, sitting on the toilet, when one of the hotel staff members walked in, unannounced, into our room with two hotel guests. The way the washroom is positioned right beside the door, they saw everything. I was horrified. How can this happen? The hotel staff called up to apologize, so we quickly forgave them.

Later when we went to bed we pulled back the sheets and the bed was completely full of black hair. EVERYWHERE!! I had never seen anything like this ever before in my life. It looked as though a giant black animal rolled around in the sheets before we arrived.

We had also found that our air conditioner wasn't working so we called down to the front desk to have the problem solved. After waiting 45 mins and calling down twice, a service man arrived. He agreed the air con was broken in our room. he thought the filter may need changing. We were then handed a set of sheets to change ourselves.

The hotel desk has no intention of allowing us to change rooms after we asked. It was the service man that took one look at the hairy bed and said this was unacceptable and then made the hotel front desk staff give us a new room. Once in our new room at about 1:30am everything was fine.

This hotel is part of the Chateau Hotel collection. We have stayed in many Chateau Hotels all across France this summer and last summer and had never experienced anything like this. Now that I look back, I can't understand how all of this happened? Especially after seeing the other good reviews? Maybe it was just bad luck, but I wont stay here again.

Dear Mrs Eve M,
Dear Guest,

Reading your review in here allows me, upon the name of the whole Hotel Hannong’s staff to apologize about our mistakes which turned your stay into a huge disappointment. Be sure, Madame, it might be the most horrible bad luck – and our own fault of course – that fell on you adding problems to mistakes …

We can easily understand, you were quite unhappy after your stay in our Hotel, and be sure that we have on focus at every moment : welcoming, bedding, cleaning, satisfying our guests. What happened then ? Maybe the circumstances mixed together : a new receptionist not fully trained to our welcoming process, holidays for part of our cleaning staff, a lack in daily control of beds and bathrooms ?... Of course we do not have to consider, you had to suffer from this ! Once again, be sure we regret, your stay hasn’t been perfect. And if anything which is reported in here by former guests allow us to progress and upgrade our general level, we would rather never have to read any review such as yours.

Our General Manager, Jerome ANNA would be glad, if you could let him contact you directly by phone or by mail to express his own regrets for all you had to bear during your stay. Please could you be so kind to give him (j.anna@hotel-hannong.com or +33 3 88 32 16 22) a time schedule to call you back ? Yes it might happen we are not perfect, but please accept our apologies and give us one more chance to prove you, a stay at Hotel Hannong has absolutely nothing to deal with, what you have had in July.

Finally, many thanks at all to give us anyway good marks about bedding and location. Be sure, Madame Eve M. ,we will do all our best to give you another image of us.

Best regards from Strasbourg

Stayed here for 4 nights on the last leg of my holiday with the family. Found the biggest plus point the location. 200 meters from the major tourist attractions and shopping area's. Service is extremely friendly and I would stay here again on that merit. The rooms are a bit small, but in an old building in the center of Strasbourg it is not surprising.

I spend there a weekend in the very hot summer 2013. The rooms are small, but air conditioned and very clean. The hotel has a great athmosphere and the breakfast is outstanding. Pricing is for the location and comfort acceptable. Then service personal is very helpful and friendly.

Got what seemed like good deal through booking.com, so not sure how I'd feel if I'd paid the full rate. Our room was smallish but very tastefully decorated and overall the hotel had a very smart feel. Reception staff were very friendly and the location is convenient for both station and the old town. Perhaps some larger bath towels and some complimentary toiletries would create a more luxurious ambience which would then warrant a 5-star rating.
