“Charming, Friendly European hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

I've stayed here several times for conferences in Strasbourg, most recently in June 2014, and would highly recommend this charming hotel to solo travelers or couples. The hotel is fairly well located, just 5-10 minutes by foot from the city center, a main bus line stops right outside the hotel, and the tram is just a minute away. Without exception, everyone working here is friendly and down to earth, and seems genuinely interested in ensuring that your stay is the best it can be. It's true old school charm and style --they warmly welcomed me at check-in and handed me my room key without even asking for an ID or credit card! (Once checked in, you actually leave your key at the front desk whenever you go out for the day or evening and they give it back to you when you return.) They also have an execellent breakfast buffet for 10 euros, well worth the price. The one thing I would note as another reviewer has noted is that the elevator only goes to the 4th floor so you'll need to walk a flight and a long hallway if your room is on the 5th floor. If that's a problem for you, just ask for a lower floor room.

We stayed one night at the Regent Contades and we liked it.
Getting to the hotel and parking near it was very easy and the check-in friendly and fast.
The room was quite big and clean, it could use some renovation but overall we were satisfied.
It's a good place to stay because you can reach the city center by foot but it's far away enough to avoid the noise.

Charming property with flower lined balconies in an excellent location in Strasbourg. This gem along the river has an amazing staff. Joanna, Valentine and Emanuel were superb. Their attention to detail, warmth and kindness make this hotel really something special. The breakfast staff is also first class with excellent fare and service conveniently located on the second floor in a gorgeous setting. Rarely in life does reality exceed expectation but this hotel and their excellent staff do just that. Many thanks to all at the hotel and I am happy to report the wine made it from Alsace to the Carolinas. Hotel stay 6/6-6/9/2014

Room Tip: beautiful balconies overlooking the street lined with flowers. great spot for a bottle of wine and s...

Excellent in almost every respect, but you pay for it dearly.
The room on the fifth floor was big, comfortable, clean and quiet.
BUT, you had to schlep the baggage yourself through a flight of stairs (lift only to the 4th floor!) and a whole of the length of a long floor. Assistance was not offered, neither any warning.
AND, the WiFi was very erratic and hardly working - staff cold not help.
Parking and breakfast are unreasonably expensive.

Room Tip: Avoid 5th floor Check internet

We stayed it RC three times and loved it every time more and more, started to feel like home, even better . Great location, spacious rooms (even standard ones), excellent breakfast, the spa gives privacy and very personal, attentive service. Emmanuel, Valentine, Fanny and the others their names I don't know who made our vacation so wonderful - thank you all.

we stayed 4 nights at the Regent Contades. It is right out of the historical center (i meant just out, like 5 minutes walking). consequently it is quiet (which is very precious in the summer, where many hotels in the historical town are NOT) , in a residential neighborhood in the style of the Haussman buildings in Paris, the hotel itself is located in a beautiful older building (see pictures) surrounded by trees, with an open view next to the river. Our room was very light, with three windows, and the sun greeting us in the morning. it had a great bathroom (bathroom /shower combination-two sinks). the bed was very comfortable, the staff could not have been nicer . the breakfast, served in a sunny room on the first floor, is very generous and good, pate de fois gras, salmon, eggs cereals, yogurts, juice , all kind of "viennoiserie" , fresh baguette (my favorite) and more. the coffee was good.

Parking: the staff will help you find a space in the street. if you park in the street the price is 7 euro for the day. if you park in a parking lot it is E21.

it is a great hotel and i would recommend it to anyone going to strasbourg. it is great in itself and great value as well.

Room Tip: you may want to choose a room facing out (the streets . it is situated at the corner of two streets...

My fiance and I stayed at the Regent Contades for 2 nights in June 2014. It's very much a luxury hotel, even if it's a bit rough around the edges in some respects (some areas need to be repainted) - very spacious room, big bathroom and tub with a full bath set (shampoo, body wash, lotion... and robes!), and very comfortable beds, along with the accompanying turn-down service.

The staff were very helpful with giving us restaurant advice and directions. The air conditioner and wifi both worked without any issues. The wifi was quite fast compared to that of other hotels we've recently stayed in.

Breakfast was not included and was very expensive (around 20 euros a person), so we went to Carrefour (a 2-minute walk) and had our own yogurt, cereal, and coffee in the room instead. They don't have a coffee and tea set in the room, but we received an electric kettle when we inquired.

The location was great. It's not in the old city, but it's only a 5/10-minute walk from it, using the gorgeous cathedral as the main landmark.
