“Good, self catering apartments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

We booked five persons apartment. We chose this hotel for the kitchen at the room.
The hotel is in walking distance from the city center. The car parking is at the train station beside the hotel.
The hotel staff is very friendly, specially the evening receptionist.
The swimming pool is at the basement, it is small but enjoyable for the kids.
The "Les halles" is five minutes walking of the hotel. This mall is big with every type of store you expect to find at a mall. At the morning we went to Auchan to do shopping and found nothing to buy, it was a waste of time. "Les Halles" is a good place to do shopping.

Stayed at Lagrange two nights. This is a modern apartment with good thought of what is needed. Good aircon. Kitchenette meant we could cook our own meals but did need to supply our own washing up liquid. No toaster so used the frypan, toaster may set off smoke alarm. Good size bathroom with bath and shower above. Separate toilet a plus. Reasonable sized queen bedroom but nowhere to put your suitcases except on floor at foot of bed. Lounge had good dining and comfy sofa. window shutters kept the noise down and heat out. We were on the third floor at the back so was very quiet. Front rooms are on the main road which is busy. Underneath carpark very secure although our large Stationwagon just got into the space. Good size pool and well equipped fitness centre but not much fresh air. Can have breakfast in dining room but we opted for self catering. very good laundry facilities pay at reception for a "coin". Free Wifi is only available in reception so can be noisy if you are wanting to skype family or can be rather amusing. Well located with main tram station about 1km walk or to another tram route 500m opposite. Large supermarket 200m if you cut through the carpark. Take your own bags. Would certainly stay here again. Reception was pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for room at back, view not great, but is quiet

Great hotel close to railway station and not to far to walk to old town, staff were excellent in every way possible, had room with small kitchen and fold out bed which was ok, 4 adults in there with plenty of room to move. If you stay here go down to the basement they uncovered some of the old city wall when building so they have made a showpiece of it, and it looks great. Overall excellent hotel would highly recomend you stay here.

Handy for the station and just a 10 minute walk to the centre of a beautiful city.
The rooms have fridges and cooking facilities so if you want to sit and eat in your birthday suite there's no risk of getting into a disagreable contretemps with the head waiter.

Having overcome the issue of finding the hotel (it's at quite a tricky crossroads) and car park (which doesn't belong to the hotel but is in a nearby multi-storey, with which they have quite a good discount deal for residents), we checked in. Bit of a pain, once the receptionist informed us that although we were paying cash up front, she would be requiring copies of our passports and a 500€ credit card deposit. Since this was not mentioned anywhere in our booking confirmation and she was unable to find it on their - or HRS', where we booked - website, we refused to provide these but were fortunately checked in anyway after a longer discussion. We simply refuse to accept so much information on our identity being taken (we know people who have been victims of identity theft and credit card fraud after similar situations), and the assumption that such a high deposit is necessary for a stay of one night places very little emphasis on hospitality.

The room was great, though! Air con, its own little kitchenette, separate bathroom and toilets, very clean. Only downside was that the internet in the room didn't work - we had to go to the lobby. The swimming pool looked great, but closes at 8pm. We arrived shortly before then so were unable to take advantage of this. The hotel is on the edge of the town centre, so it is a bit of a walk to the central tourist attractions, but if you have time on your hands (which we, sadly, didn't), that won't present much of a problem due to great transport links.

The manager was very friendly and apologetic upon checkout and informed us that the policy re. deposits and passport copies was a centralised one by Lagrange hotels, which is terribly irrelevant in Strasbourg, as many Germans and students don't possess credit cards and would thus be unable to even check in there (Strasbourg is basically on the German border). To sum up: be careful when you book, be insistent when you check in, but once you've overcome those hurdles it's a great hotel!

Room Tip: Arrive earlier in the day if possible to take advantage of the facilities!

Our apartment was well equippqed and spacious. A welcome extra was the huge balcony with furniture, overlooking the city. Very helpful staff who recommended a good restaurant and booked us a table. Breakfast is good value (9 euros per adult). A great place to base yourself for a few days in this lovely little city.

Modern, clean apartments with everything you need. Nice bathroom, small kitchen with the basics equipment. Separate bedroom and a pull-out couch. We stayed here for three nights with our two children and it was really great. There is also a small swimming pool. The center is at 15 minutes walk or there is also a tram station nearby if you want to visit the further away European quarter. The persons at the reception desk were also very friendly to give us the requested information. Closed underground parking garage where you can safely park you car.
