“charme room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We book our 3 nights stay with jetair (a package : 2 nights in half board and 1 night with a 6 course meal. Maybe I'm wrong but to me it seemed that if you don't book directly with them they don't like you very much. (but again if the other reception lady had been there.....)

Also at the restaurant we were given a place round the corner away from everyone. First night we were sitting there all by our self with a menu they printed for us with Jetair is large print (I wouldn't print that on the menu to us it felt like we were 2class)
Normally you had a choice in starter and main course but only 1 was printed and a blank space where the choice should have been.
Lucky for us you could order from the main menu (additional cost)
This is very good as you are not stuck to the set menu and can eat whatever you want.

The cheese plate before the dessert could have been more varied same 3 cheeses every night. Strange if you know that we visited the covered marked of Colmar and there is such a variety in cheeses....

Food was OK and they have nice wines.

There is also a terrase to have a drink outside but you have to go order your drinks inside because they don't notice you.

Breakfast was OK.

Our room was on the street side and was very small.
There was a cabinet with only 4 hangers and no shelf space aside from a small place next to the safe.
The bathroom was nice with good ventilation.
The room also had AC.
There is free internet in the rooms. No minibar.

People at the reception didn't even look up everytime you came in not so friendly.
Except on our last day there was an other person at the reception and she was very friendly wish she had been there our entire stay.

The walk to town is about 10 minutes and they have parking with is ideal.
So the hotel is in a very good location to visit the town by foot.

Colmar is a lovely place to visit, and we were travelling to Germany by car, as a family of four. This hotel provided good accommodation, and we were able to stay in a family suite. The breakfast was most substantial, tasty, and with lots of choice. Parking was just round the back of the hotel, which is on a main street, and we were charged 8 euros for the night. However, this allowed us to park, unload our stuff, and walk into the town for a bit of exploring. The walk into the centre was about 10 minutes, and the worst thing was coping with the traffic light system - you have to be on your guard. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, and the Beausejour does have its own restaurant serving meals. We ate out, though, because we wanted to see the town. When back we ordered coffee at the bar, and the service was good. Overall we were pleased with the pleasant and efficient service. With paying for breakfast on top of what we were paying for the bedroom did seem a little pricey, though, and perhaps a bit extravagant as an overnight stop. However, we did like it!

Room Tip: Check out the kind of rooms available before booking.

My husband, sister and I stayed at this hotel for 15 minutes before cancelling our booking and paying one night's room fee to NOT stay there.

The room was very dated with old musty puce-green bed covers. We booked a room for 3 people but we opened the door we saw that the room was tiny and the third bed was some type of convertible chair with a stained cover in the same in unappealing fabric as the bed covers. We did not want to figure out how to convert the weird chair into a bed or where it would fit in the room when it did open.

Since we had to pay for one night regardless we might have toughed forum not for the bathroom. It smelled like a combination of mildew and urine.

The only positive thing I can say about the hotel is that the young man who checked us in was extremely friendly and provided lots of useful information about Colmar. The hotel is about 10 min from the edge of Colmar so plan on walking since securing taxis is very difficult in Alsace.

Dear Customer,

You informed us 15 minutes after taking the room that you were leaving the hotel without any explanation. We found a written note in the room saying that you had difficulties in finding a taxi in the region and that you didn’t want to sleep in a convertible chair.
The hotel is indeed located 10 minutes from the town center and 8 minutes from the pedestrian zone. This is mentioned in the hotel description on our website as well as on different websites. The bed covers are taupe, the same color as the one on the convertible chair. We never had any complaints about these colors. We would have found a room that would have suited you better, had we known the problem.
When you arrived the windows and the curtains were closed because of the heat wave, so was the check mechanism of the bathroom ventilation system. This could explain the unpleasant smell. Opening the windows after the afternoon hot temperature would have taken the smell out of the room. We regret not having been asked to accompany you in the room to solve this issue.
Sincerely,

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. It did seem a little out dated, like the bedding seemed a little old but besides that it was a nice place to stay. The staff was very friendly especially when I discovered that our electrical outlets were not working. They put us in another room right away without discussion. It is not right in the old center but the walk there was not too far.

This is a really good place to stay in Colmar. It is only a few minutes minutes walk from the centre of the old town. We were upgraded to a very comfortable family room with bath and balcony. The staff are friendly, the breakfast excellent and I had the best steak for dinner at the hotel restaurant that I had in 6 weeks in France. It is a beaut base to explore Colmar and the neighbouring wine region.

The room we had was clean but fairly small and the only ventilation was to open the window. It was a basic room but the bed was comfortable for the night we stayed. We arrived by bike and this was the only hotel we stayed at on the tour that made us leave the bikes outside with no cover. The highlight was the staff they were really friendly and were always smiling. We ate at the restaurant and the food was very good, the pistachio creme brulee was a particular highlight. The old centre of Colmar is an easy walk from the hotel and this is where you will want to spend the majority of your time not sitting in a hotel!
