“Wonderful Place to stay in Colmar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2011

The Kyriad Colmar Centre Gare is a great 2 star hotel within walking distance from the Railway Station. I would guess the distance to be about 400 meters, much further than the mao shows on the Hotel web site. Also, the map is very unclear and does not show any details.
To get to the hotel, when you leave the fromt of the Station with the Hotel Bristol in front of you to your left, cross the road to the side of the Bristol and walk left away from the Bristol & the Station. To your left you will see the road goes up and over what looks something like a bridge. DO NOT TAKE THAT ROAD. Keep to the narrower road on the right hand side of that bridge look alike and keep walking. Soon you will see a shop Dino Music to your left. The Hotel Kyriad is on your right hand side, diagonally opposite Dino Music.
The Hotel is really good value for money. Very helpful staff with owners who speak very good English. Room size was good. Bed & Pilllows good. Bathroom & Shower good. Very clean. Only minus was no air conditioning or a fan, but luckily I did not need either during my 2 night stay.
There is a Restaurant attached to the Hotel. English is spoken there but not as good as the Hotel. Food is really wonderful, true French cooking and do try the Alsace Reisling, just sooo wonderful.
Loved the Hotel and its owners who went out of their way to help me and make me feel wanted and welcome. Would definately stay there again, in fact would not even consider anywhere else. The Hotel is also very close to a beautiful Park and within walking distance to "Little Venice"

This chain proved to be a great value, saving so we could do more and eat more French food! For those who know Motel 6, this is about that but nicer. Prices are superb.

I've been in Colmar quite a few times and tried a different hotel each time and this is one of the best so far. Our room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was extremely nice and breakfast was very good. The only drawback is that it's close to the train station so you may hear some noise at night, but it's still very close to the town center and it's very convenient to visit Colmar. I would definitely go back again.

A person at the railway station pointed me in the direction of this hotel which as the above reviewers say is situated close to station and centre ville. There is an internet cafe close by also.

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. They had a single room available for around 45 euro with breakfast.

Room was on top floor and I was glad I only had one smallish bag as space was tres pettite. small window with small opening. the room was boiling all night.

Bathroom 'cute' with roof timber decending down the middle. It appeared quite spacious as it was almost the same size as the bedroom. all ok.

Trains and traffic not too noisy as I was up so high.

Breakfast was excellent.

We stayed here for 2 nights, and I slept poorly during the 2 nights due to the noise from rumbling trains and cars and the hard bed. We were given a twin room overlooking the rue de la gare and next to the hotel was the main road artery through which cars would drive in and out of town, so there was noise disturbance from the intermittent rumbling trains at night and motorcar sounds through the night and early morning. I found the bed rather hard and tossed and turned.
That said, my friend had a more acceptable stay at the hotel than I did, as she doesn't have an issue with hard beds, and she wakes up intermittently when she sleeps anyway, so the rumbling trains and motor cars don't bother her. Perhaps there might be less noise disturbance if you took a room further away from the hotel front door and the road.
The room was clean and there was an electric kettle in the room-only that the cups provided were plastic, and I don't feel comfortable pouring boiling water into a plastic cup due to leaching plastic. The staff were civil, not overly friendly. The corridors were nondescript. The hotel is about 8 minutes walk to the train station-convenient for catching trains. I would not recommend this hotel to friends for fear they would not sleep well like I did

The location was good. Within easy walking distance of the train station and historic parts of Colmar. Chain hotel with clean rooms. Very quiet. Restaurant had reasonable food and reasonable prices, but we preferred going out for most meals The room and bathroom were good sized and clean. The only downside was the sloped roof caused a bit of hazard for bumping your head, and the TV stand was precariously attached to the wall. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Would stay there again.

Stayed 2 nites. Booked a "petite chambre single" but was pleasantly given a twin room. Paid just 36 Euros per nite and 6.50 Euros for the breakfast.

The hotel is located between Colmar train station and the old town. Both within walking distance. Considering the location and convenience, I would say this is a good budget hotel.

Colmar is also a good base for a day trip to Basel in Switzerland.
