“Fair hotel easy to reach, but nothing more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2011

No surprise for this Novotel, similar to others: No soul, staff professional but not more. Food similar to all other Novotels in the world. Rooms are the same as elsewhere. It is hard to remember in which city you are when waking up... The staff is rather friendly and helpful. The restaurants closes at 10, what is a plus...

I stayed in this hotel during my official visit to Belfort, France. Hotel Novotel is located very near to the center of the city. Usually people visiting the city are often on a business visit. The hotel rooms are spacious with all the modern amenities. Bathroom and toilets are exclusive & not combined. The hotel staff is co-operative. Internet access is free. You will have quite an options available in breakfast even if you are a vegetarian. Breakfast is not complimentary and you have to pay separately for the breakfast. The room rent as per my corporate tie up was Euro 125 and for breakfast you have to pay Euro 13.90.

Disadvantage - No public transport facility is available in the city or near the hotel, hence only option available is hire a cab. Most of the companies arrange for a hotel pick up & drop for their employees / visitors, so please check with the reception desk. Hotel Novotel is always on the hotel pick up & drop up route of the major companies.

Room Tip: Take the room facing the main road in front of the hotel. During summer time, you can enjoy the suns...

This is a great, modern hotel in a good position. The rooms are large and comfortable.
Unfortunately, this is spoilt by careless housekeeping....there was no plug in the batroom sink and gthe folding bed (which we did not require) would not fold away and couldn't be used as a sofa. In the dinining area, the finned radiators under the windows were full of unhygenic filth. The staff tried their best> Oh, and the lift broke down !!

Stayed in this hotel while visiting friends. Hotel was very plesant with free internet access. Rooms very average size but the bathroom with big enough. Nice shower and plenty of towels. Bed's were the most comfortable I've have from a hotel in a long time. Location was very close the the centre of belfort.

This Novotel forms part of the Atria conference centre at the northern tip of the old town. The railway station is to the southwest, in the newer part of the town, and about 20 mins walk away. The hotel is about the same distance, to the west, from UTBM university to which we had to walk several times. We stayed 3 nights from Sat 27 Feb. 2010.

The hotel has reception, bar and dining area all adjacent to the entrance. This also housed 2 Internet terminals, available at all hours free of charge for 20 mins sessions. My PDA picked up a WIFI signal in our bedroom but it was chargeable and I did not use it.

Bedrooms are on 4 upper floors. We had room 327 on 3rd floor overlooking walls of citadel. The air conditioning was not operational. The heating was on. We could not cool the room so asked for the window to be opened. We noted that quite a few other rooms had done the same. Why Novotel has this policy I don't know, as we have encountered it in Accra and Krakow among other Novotel properties.

Our room had normal wide double bed with duvet, and the convertible settee. Both were comfortable. The bathroom had a bath with integral shower but not a separate shower cabinet as in two Paris hotels. The washbasin had a heated mirror which meant it did not steam up. Basin was slow to empty but this is common to basins in Novotels.

Breakfast was buffet style. There were bananas, plums, tangerines and apples. Cut fruit seemed to be tinned. No fish but 3 cheeses in slices. An ok meal and nothing special for the price. We did not eat dinner there though we noticed some business-people did. There are good restaurants within walking distance into the old town. Those we liked were La Gazelle d'Or (Moroccan), L'Ambroisie, Aux Crepes d'Autan (rustic crepes), and Le Moliere (though that was the least good of the four)

Staff were friendly if a little eccentric during weekend.

Overall we paid EUR 77 per night for Sat and Sun but EUR 137 for Monday, plus breakfast at EUR 13.80 each. We made two reservations on the Accor web site as we found that we did not get such a good rate if we booked 3 nights as one booking. We would stay again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2008

We stayed in this hotel for one night in August on our way back from Italy. The room was very clean and comfortable and the hotel was very quiet even though we looked out over a busy street. Like so many of these hotels it was a little soulless as it is mainly used for business.
We went out to explore the town and to find somewhere to eat but had not realised that most restaurants would be closed due to annual holidays! We returned to the hotel and ate in the restaurant there. The food and service were good and not as expensive as we had thought it would be.
We appreciated the underground parking.
We did not particularly like Belfort, but would certainly return to this hotel if travelling in this direction again.

  • Liked — The room and the restaurant
  • Disliked — Rather sterile atmosphere as part of a business centre

We have stayed at the Novotel in Belfort twice now, and we can't say enough about it. It is very clean, the rooms are very nice, and the breakfast buffet was absolutely scrumptious. It had everything you could want, and the best croissants ever.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The children loved the big Playstation console in the lobby they had, and to this day they still talk about the awesome breakfast they had there and that it was their favorite part of our stays in Europe. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and we can't wait to return on our next trip back!
