We visited Gaucho's following a recommendation and enjoyed the whole experience. The restaurant itself is impressive as a converted church with high ceilings, sparkling crystal chandeliers, and cowhide and leather chair coverings, as well as the original church organ. The staff were simply wonderful, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. When I was undecided as to which wine to choose, the sommelier brought 3 or 4 to sample, explaining each in turn. He did not hurry us at all, or push us toward the most expensive wine. He also explained that we could purchase the wine to take home either directly from the restaurant or from Gaucho's on line. The wine, Torrontes, was so good, I will definitely order on line.
We were also shown different cuts of meat by another of the wonderful staff who explained the menu items, the best cuts of beef and the best way to have each cooked. We started with a selection of Empanadas which were delicious. We all had steaks for our main course. I settled for rib eye steak (Bife De Ancho) which was one of the best steaks I have ever had.
All the while the staff were so attentive and friendly yet not intrusive. The bill was a lot less than I thought it would be for the fine food and wine and the second to none service. I would recommend Gaucho's Manchester to everyone. I also hope to try out one of the London Gaucho's in September.
