“All kippers and curtains”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

Considering they make such a big deal out of their cuisine, it is a bit underwhelming. The interior decoration is nice and the waiters are extremely friendly. But the quality testimonials on the walls and in the menu raised our expectations and we ended up a little bit disappointed. The lamb could have used a bit longer cooking, the quiche was plain boring, and the dessert was very simple. For the price we expected more.

“Good Food, Excellent Service, Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

The title says it all. Good food coming out of a talented kitchen, served by staff that are always there but never intrusive, at a price that is frankly ridiculous for cooking of this standard.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

No pre theatre menu! £8.50 for large glass of house wine and £16.50 for 3 ounces of salmon with 3slices of tiny new potato sautéed, service was okay but don't go if you're hungry!

“Great food but really disappointing service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

I came for a meal with my mum, after the christmas markets last week. I heard good things about this place so I was really looking forward to my visit. The restaurant was very quiet so not much atmosphere but there is not a lot that can be expected on a Tuesday night, but the decor was lovely and I can imagine it's very welcoming when a bit more full.
On our arrival the waitress asked if we wanted to go straight to our table or sit in the bar. We ummed and ahhed for a minute but said that we would like to sit straight at the table, however we were led through to what appeared to be the bar area. We assumed this may be the area we had to sit in due to the fact we were dining on a deal found on Restaurant of Manchester? After a couple of minutes we asked and she apologised and moved us back to the restaurant.
We had a few minutes looking at the menu (which was lovely) however after bringing our wine she did not reappear to take our order for quite some time. She then had to go away on 3 separate occasions, when questioned, to ask the kitchen about items on the menu, which is a real pet hate if mine!
The food was delicious however again after we had finished out main courses we were left with empty plates for nearly half an hour. This I thought was bad enough due to the fact that there were only two other tables in the restaurant but made worse because both waiting staff were walking past us constantly to set up the rest of the restaurant for breakfast! It's not like we were the last table at 10pm this was still only about 8.30. Hardly closing time?

It is such a shame that the service was so so poor because with some basic service training and a daily/weekly menu briefing this could be a fantastic restaurant!

“Not what I was expecting”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

This was a table booked for 13 people. Website looked good and the menu looked varied. Then you walk in! Drink prices are hotel expensive, £2.00 for a diet tonic water! They had left us on cluttered table full of unused wine glasses and table settings that should have been cleared. The food was Luke warm, which was not good enough as we were given a small choice set menu no where near as good as the online menu. I have to say, food was sparse. If you like small portions, this could be for you. I just felt its expense did not match the quality, just not good value.
