“Excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here for one night for the Stone Roses gig at Heaton Park. When we arrived we were met with a long queue of other guests waiting to check in. 99% of us in the queue were there for the gig! The hotel had Stone Roses music playing in the background, so it made the queue bearable and actually added a bit of excitement! We were given lots of information by check in staff on travel arrangements to the gig, taxi numbers and a 20% discount card for the NCP car park which we had used (this saved us around £7!). We were given a room on the 11th floor which had the most amazing views right across the city, and looked out over Piccadilly Gardens. Our room was immaculate. Cannot fault it any way, and the bed was very comfy. We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on that. Having a 12 o'clock check out was great! We were able to enjoy a long lie after a big night! Staff were friendly and well mannered. We are thinking of returning to Manchester soon for a weekend and would definitely stay at this hotel. 10 out of 10 Mercure!!

Hotel is in a great location; shops and places to eat virtually on the door step. The room is small but it is suprising what is fitted into a small space! TV fine, if rather annoying to scroll through the pay bits each time. Bathroom could do with a re-vamp, the floor tile pattern is worn down by the thousands of feet that have trampled this way in the past 30(?) odd years (judging by the colour scheme) but it was clean enough. Bath water a bit tepid though.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable; good quality bed linen. A very good nights sleep and no noise problems noticed - the occasional tram 'bell' but you soon stop noticing that.
A very good breakfast

This hotel is located centrally to Picadilliy, with handy on site parking (£15 for 24hrs). The reception staff are really friendly and helpful, as are the room service staff.

My room was fresh and clean with nice furniture and bedding. The twin room was a bit small though and the beds were pushed together...there wasn't enough space to separate them and still walk around the room.

Either the walls are a bit thin, or the woman in the next room was very loud. Nice hotel though, and I would stay here again.

i recently stayed 1 night.
the hotel is well located. The room was clean with all the right fittings but very much on the small side. The double bed was the smallest I have ever seen. However it was comfortable.
For a short stayover in Manchester the hotel is adequate and reasonable. The staff were exceptionally polite.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

I stayed in this hotel during a business trip in early June. Booked last minute but got a decent price through my travel agent in Greece. Good price and some average reviews made me not expect too much.
Pleasantly surprised though. 5 min walk from Picadilly train station (being a thin woman carrying heavy luggage!). Very easy to find due to location, height and characteristic design. Nice public areas. Reception staff fairly polite- though busy. I had requested room in one of the highest floors to avoid street noise- got 12th, v.g. with great view to the fountains. When I got to the room, I could hear a noise like a computer game (?), the cleaning lady outside my door said it was music from the park, I think it was from next door or upstairs, asked the reception to change and was immediately given a room on the other side of the corridor- no noise there.
My room was bigger than average double rooms in the U.K. (they do not offer singles,I think, and they had put the two beds together into a double, quite confortable though), modernly furnished, looked recently refurbished ( except windows and some bathroom features), clean, large bathroom with bathtub, safe, coffee making facilities, iron with ironing board and professional hair drier! Didn' t use the wi-fi, so no comments there.
Breakfast on third floor lounge with lovely view to the park, pretty good variety and food quality, not the best or most luxurious, but still ok.
Very central location, there is a helpful consierge in case you need information, you just have to ask reception to call them to their desk.
I must agree with one or two bad comments from previous travelers: with the reception on the 2nd floor, the main entrance on the ground floor seems unattended, however it is closed at night- when I got back late, I had to show my key card to get in. Also, the walls are indeed a bit on the thin side and in case your neighbours are noisy, that may be a problem. Mine were not, but I could hear a very loud phone conversation.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay and I would definetely recommend the hotel.
