“Great alternative to a hotel...!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

Planned a trip to Manchester for shopping but needed accommodation for 2 nights for 3 people. Not too many hotels to choose from that can accommodate 2 adults & a 16 year old without booking a suite or having to use a sofa bed. Started to find out about "serviced apartments" & came across the Blue Rainbow. They have 2 locations in Manchester & we chose the Manchester Central as it has on-site undergound car parking. We booked an "executive 2 bedroom apartment" so everyone had thier own space & facilities to use. The location was good (10-15 mins walk to the town centre although there were many shops en-route), the staff were friendly & helpful & the room was really quite nice. Would definately use it again, & as I said, It's a great alternative to a traditional hotel.

Second time I've stayed here for football. great value for money.

Clean & tidy.

Everything you need in the kitchen even down to washing up liquid & dishwasher tablets.

Great location for connections to Liverpool.

Friendly & helpful staff.

We had a put up bed in the lounge for extra guest and it was a very comfortable bed not a flimsy camp bed which was brilliant.

Great having the kitchen with a small baby.

Only bad thing is the bath towels are very small so take your own if you like to wrap up or are on the larger side.

Would recommend & stay again.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend and it was prefect for our needs. The apartment was spacious and it was easy to walk to from the station and then into the city centre.

Reception staff helpful, but i wouldn't advise using the 'gym' as it is nothing but a 4 old exercise machines that kept cutting out.

Room Tip: There is only one lift so opted for floor 1 or 2 so you can use the stairs!

I stayed here recently to attend a concert at the MEN arena with my two older children. This seemed like a good option as the apartment had two bedrooms so we wouldn't be cramped in one room.
The apartments aren't that hard to find, the sat nav took us straight to it, but they could do with a better sign outside so you can clearly see where you are heading... Finding the parking was much harder! There are no signs outside the car park and it did take us a while to locate it...
Check in was fine, quick and we we went to our room. The apartment was lovely, by spacious and just what we wanted. Pleasantly surprised with milk and breakfast items etc. It was clean and the showers were excellent.
Ok now the not so good. The balconies were shared with the apartment next door, not good when you've small children and next door are partying and smoking outside... All the apartments have self close internal doors and this is an issue as they slam constantly. Link that with a group who again are partying and it means no sleep all night... The noise levels were high, and well, despite complaining to reception, it went on most of the night.
Overall I like the idea of an apartment on a short stay, I would maybe stay there again if it was a good special offer but with friends, I wouldn't go with children based in the noise levels...

Spent one night in the executive 2 bedroom apartment with breakfast. We had to remind reception of breakfast and got 3 small cereal boxes with no milk. The bathroom had no toiletries and spotted loads of damage to which we reported three times. The reception guy was useless and couldn't understand what a lamp was. I had to go and ask for a robe which I thought was supposed to be in the room. Balcony was dirty and windows on outside were covered in dust. Do not recommend this place at all, you will be better off staying in a hotel!

spent 2 nights in 2 bed apartment at blue rainbow and we thought price for 4 people was reasonable.reception i have to agree with other review that it was unmanned at times and had to wait short amount of time at front entrance .on entering apartment was hit by heavy stench of bleach and bleach up the walls which meant there had been heavy clean up.the bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely but lounge looked a bit tired and in need of a spruce up.seemed like a lot of hen parties and stag parties use these apartments so it was quite noisy at night going on to early hours of morning.would we stop here again maybe but would ask for room on lower floors because only 1 lift so waiting time can be trying.overall view comfortable and adequate for larger parties but not really the kind of place you would come with your partner for romantic break

Room Tip: book room on lower floors where you can use the stairs as block only has 1 lift which broke down on...

I spent 1 night at Blue Rainbow with 3 friends. Our usual choice of 5*Apartment was fully booked so we booked Blue Rainbow.....boy, were we disappointed. Firstly, it was very hard to find. Secondly, we couldnt get in until a guest waiting in the tiny reception area eventually spotted me and opened the door. There was only one person working on reception, despite the large queue. The reception area was shabby and definitely not 5 star and the staff rude. When we finally got into our apartment, the fridge didnt work properly and the contents were warm the next morning (no apology from reception when we complained about it) we hardly got any sleep due to our bedroom not having an outside window and the air con not working properly. I have stayed in a large number of hotels around the world ranging from budget to 5 star and this is the worst I've stayed in. I would never stay here again and if you want 5 star or even 3 star do not stay here.
