“Lovely large park with plenty of different activites on offer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

Travelling by tram to Heaton Park with my two children, unfortunately we found it was a long walk to reach the main playground (approx. 30 mins) - we were tired as we had already walked quite a distance already that day. However they had a ball there, especially on the very large slide. The little pet farm was a bit disappointing and didn't catch their attention at all. The toilets closest to the playground were pre-historic but needs must! Although the playground was very busy while we were there, there were so many different pieces of equipment that there wasn't too long of a queue for anything. There was an ice-cream van situated close to the main playground.
We were delighted to get the road tram back to the other end of the park (£1 per person), where we passed a lovely large boating lake and stopped at a fair where the children enjoyed some of the rides, despite the very mucky ground around the rides. The portable toilets at the boating lake were very clean and although we didn't use the coffee shop there, it looked inviting with a nice view over the boating lake.
The park is very well maintained and would make a nice place simply for a walk. Although the park is very large, most of the time we could see people in the distance, so it felt safe.

“great park for everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

we live a stone throw away from the park and know it well. Beautiful views over lookiing manchester/parts of bury. the park is highly maintained. we love to take the kids whateer the weather. The park has all kind of events at all times of the year such as halloween ghost walk ... santas slay.. cancer run ... fun fairs ... live concerts.
The park has its own mini farm with rabbits, pigs etc... and fields with horses. Great place for a picnic! just one warning is watch young children on the slide its extremely dangerous as we found out :-( ...... gold pitch is amazing and in fab condition, well maintained! my partner used to play all the time as do many of my family members. (the park also has heaton hall - for those who like historical attractions) obviously theres charges to play golf - but parking there is now a charge and there is a boating lake /two small restraunts where you may require to use the facilities.
