“Has the good location but not the regular quality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Choosed the hotel mainly because its location and presumed I will enjoy the good quality of premier inn standard by large , but it was a bit of disappointment.
why ? atlhough reception stuff was very welcome and ready to assist the condition of the room was not very attractive and the maintenance level seems to be low. the room was smelly , dark and the rug was not even tight so watch your steps...
in the bathroom one of the tap was broken and I had to work out how to open/close the hot water just on shaving time , and the bathroom smelled..
further , the bathroom is equipped with a vent that will not stop work and make noise unless you close all lights - bit annyoing.
Having said that , In total - in case I will need the location I think I will give this hotel another chance.

Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay at our hotel. I would like to apologise for the room and the problems that you had during your stay. If you decide to stay with us in the future I would like to recommend that if you are not entirely happy with your room that you can call down to reception and we could arrange a room transfer for you to a more suitable room.

We do have schedule in place were that every room gets a check to ensure that the maintenance is of a high standard, however it seems on this occasion this may have failed and the room was not to the standard that you have come to expect from premier inn.

Again, I would like to apologise for the experience that you had whilst you stayed with us here at Portland Street.

We hope that we see you again in the future.

This Premier Inn in Portland Street is fabulous. Very helpful and friendly staff. Get breakfast in the nearby Wetherspoons pub, which is also very friendly. Near to shops, tram - great base for the centre of Manchester. I will go back again the next time I need to stay in central Manchester. 10 mins walk from the station, but plenty of taxis around.

Room Tip: Our room was on the third floor and very quiet. Security checks the floors too to make sure all is...

Many thanks for taking time to review your recent stay with us. We are pleased that our premier inn was in a good location for you.

Regarding the breakfast, there are plenty of options around the area that we are located. But we would recommend trying our breakfast. We have various different types of breakfasts on offer ranging from an all you can eat buffet, continental breakfast and a grab and go breakfast which all can be taken away to your rooms.

It is always very nice to hear that you will be coming back when you stay in Manchester.

We look forward to seeing you in the future.

Stayed here for work with a colleague and would never stay here again, in fact complained to work. I'd assured my collleague who is very particular that this would be fine and whilst reception were lovely checking us in, got me an iron etc the actual room was not pleasant. Very dark and the sofa had dubious stains on it which made me worried about what I couldn't see on the floor, the bathroom smelt strongly of vomit as well. Window was open and no way to close it. Never again, had been up since 4am and next morning wanted a nice shower to freshen up and start again but just left feeling grubby and I've had to put up with an awful amount of complaining from my colleague.

Clean room, centrally located, lovely staff, delicious breakfast. But £155 for 1 nights b&b for 2? Very overpriced. Maybe it was the Tory conference being in town inflated the price? Always get value for money at Premier Inns but feel completely ripped off!!

Dear Kath, Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay at our premier inn, we hope that you enjoyed your time in Manchester.

Regarding the price of the hotel during football matches, conferences and live acts due to the demand the price rises during these peak times. I apologise for the inconvenience caused. We aim to be as fair as possible and cheaper than what our competitors offer at these times.

I would also like to mention that the earlier you book your room the cheaper you will get the rate for your room.

We hope that you visit us again soon.

On the positive side :- friendly helpful staff at all hours of the day and night. Food was plentiful ( breakfast) all you can eat arrangement with generous timings.
Rooms clean and tidy.
Comfortable bed and pillows.Nice clean bathroom.
Very close to the Palace Theatre.
Would advise taxi if using trains as quite a hike otherwise.
We didn't have a car with us so unable to comment on parking.
Downside;- companions sleep disturbed by street noise ( bed close to window).Another room away from the street may well be different.
Shower head is fixed.
Lighting I found a little too subdued for my taste, could have done with some higher wattage bulbs.
Decor - could do with freshening up a little.

Overall for the price a generally good experience.

Dear Diane, Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay with us. It's especially pleasing to hear that the hotel and our teams delivered the standards and service levels that helped make your stay a pleasant one.

I would also like to apologise for the street noise that your companions heard during your stay. If you stay with us in the future I would like to recommend that you request to be in a quiet room away from the street. We have a number of quiet rooms available on site. And we will do the best we can to accommodate you.

Regarding the lighting and décor I’m sorry that the lighting was not light enough for you on this occasion, the feedback has been noted and will be passed onto the relevant departments.

Again we would like the thank you for taking time out of your day to leave a review. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

.... well I guess that depends on where you want to go, but as we were working at the Convention Centre it was really good. There's enough bars and restaurants right on the doorstep and as far as I understand the nightlife is just around the corner.

The hotel itself is the usual comfortable Premiere Inn, so you kind of know what you are getting, but if you are unfamiliar with Premiere Inn I would say they are worth a try as they're very good value for money generally
