“Awesome!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013 via mobile

I've stayed at GJS a number of times with my partner and will keep coming back here whenever we choose to visit Manchester!

The rooms are awesome, indivual and from the smallest to the biggest suites have the wow factor and little touches that make the place unique!

On our latest visit we stayed in an opus grande suite, it was huge, well decorated and the oversize bath tub next to the kingsize bed was an awesome idea ;)

The roof top terrace, with hot tub looked like it has had a revamp and as usual the breakfast was lovely!

The staff were nice and attentive as per usual.

Great location on deansgate is ideal to take in the great selection of bars and restaurants that deansgate has to offer!

If you're looking to visit Manchester Christmas markets then make the trip extra special and stay at GJS! Only a 2 minute walk to the markets and even closer to the spinningfields ice rink .

AWESOME!!!

My husband and I got married last year at Didsbury House so decided to spend our 1st year anniversary in its sister hotel. We were not disappointed.
On arrival, we were checked in and shown to our amazing (and huge) room. Although we had not mentioned anything about our anniversary, we found a note from Jessica, who coordinated our wedding at Didsbury house and Dan, the general manager welcoming us to GJS and 2 homemade biscuits with a happy 1st anniversary message. We were so touched that they remembered us. A knock on the door and Jessica was there with 2 glasses of champagne... So thoughtful. The furniture and decor is beautiful and the hotel is so different to anywhere that we have stayed before. The super king size hand carved bed was so comfortable and we had a great nights sleep, not to mention the double roll top baths, which were super relaxing.
Our stay was fantastic. The staff are so helpful and even without the thoughtful touches, which made it so special we had a great time. Special thank you to Jessica and Dan.
Well recommended to anyone wanting to stay in a unique, beautiful and welcoming hotel.

After providing the hotel with our table plans, guest names and menu choices by the required deadline, as one of the organisers for our company, I personally have to say that it was just wonderful to be able to trust the event manager and maitre d with all the subsequent arrangements and to therefore also be able to join in with everyone else enjoying the evening too instead of worrying and constantly checking on everything!

The evening was just amazing! The surroundings were fabulous – I love all the alterations that have been made, all of which enhance all the best features of the roof top facility and the large parasols worked so well on the terrace. The food was excellent; all the staff were totally efficient, helpful, polite and friendly. The table plan that we had created looked great in the frame that was provided by the hotel and our Maitre D, Francesco, was wonderful at helping everything to go so smoothly by re-checking all the table plans and and making sure that everyone had the right food (even when some people switched their seats!!). Everyone I spoke to was very impressed with the quality of the food and the style in which it was served by all the team.
The DJ that was recommended and provided by the hotel was also excellent. He really read the mood of everyone and got all the music just right to keep people up and dancing right through to midnight.

Here are some of the written comments that we had back from the staff:
* The whole event was so well organised and it was lovely that the food was all served at the same time on the tables.
• It was brilliant!
• Just wanted to say a huge thank you for such a brilliant Christmas party, it was fantastic! The venue choice was perfect and the whole night went really well.
• I had a great time thanks – it was good fun. I liked the venue and it is definitely somewhere we will go and visit after Christmas...
• The Christmas Party was Excellent !!!
• Can you pass our thanks on to the Admin and Management team for another super Christmas party. The location itself was a great choice and the food and service was excellent. As I said on the night, I really like the interaction with other staff members on a social level, others that I wouldn't normally speak to that much so I really enjoyed it. A big, big thanks for a great evening. Oh and the cheesy profiteroles (gougeres) with the duck salad starter were immense !
•Thanks for all your efforts towards such a great Christmas do on Friday! Best one yet I reckon.

The big challenge we have now of course is how do we top that for next year?!

Stayed here for a night on business last week and was really impressed with the hotel. Great location in the centre of Manchester, valet parking takes away all the stress of trying to find somewhere to park, very helpful reception and a fantastic, luxury bedroom. I would definitely recommend this hotel and shall be returning on my next trip to Manchester when I will hopefully have time to try the hot tub on roof toop terrace!

What a lovely way to spend a couple of hours away from the hubbub of a pre-Christmas afternoon in Manchester City Centre. I had the gentleman's version (a great idea), which consisted of a tasty, well presented selection of mini cheese burger, fish and chips, chicken and leek pie, prawn dumpling and basket of fries, followed by cheese and crackers and a brownie with Baileys ice cream. My partner enjoyed the ladies version, which was a fine selection of sandwiches, followed by a range of cakes and scones with jam and cream. The option is there to top it off with either a cocktail or champagne should you wish to do so. Service was friendly and obliging throughout and all in all we enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant afternoon in what is a delightful hotel with a chilled, relaxing atmosphere. Make that bit of effort to find Great John Street, you will not be disappointed

Spacious room, lovely bathroom on mezzanine, bed v comfortable. Had to turn on radiators to warm up the room on arrival, and left them on too long - just need to watch the temperature, Room service efficient, and I enjoyed the lamb burger, Breakfast also good, with eggs cooked to order rather than left on hotplate, I didn't get to the rooftop hot tub - will go prepared next time, Overall, great place and good value
