“Good but could be better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013 via mobile

Top floor bar is stunning. Great range of cocktails. Staff were helpful and efficient if a little clumsy. Food was slightly hit an miss, pigeon dish was stunning, but the lamb wasn't cooked right. However, when we pointed this out they took note of it and offered e reduction in the bill. Will definitely go back when hopefully they have ironed out the small issues which are holding this place back from being special.

“Fantastic experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013 via mobile

We went to Manchester House on a recommendation and we were not in the slightest bit disappointed. We started with a cocktail in the bar, the drinks are pricey but the view from the 12th floor is stunning and well worth the trip. We were then called it our table on the second floor restaurant. The restaurant is very open planned and the kitchen is fully on view for all to see. The staff were young, friendly and knowledgeable and not at all stuffy (which can't be said for all Manchester restaurants). My husband plumped for the lunch menu, I ate from the a la carte. My husband also tried three courses from the taster menu. With the exception of the prawn cocktail the food was fabulous, my husband believes it was some of the best food he's ever eaten. I chose the prawn cocktail because I was intrigued by the frozen fruit that cracks to merge with the powder under the prawns. It was awful. It was gimmicky and tasted really powdery and lumpy. However, my main course lamb dish was cooked to perfection and we both loved the desserts. The overall experience was outstanding and we are already planning our return.

“Brilliant evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Birthday treat for my wife. Had the taster menu, really innovative and brilliant. 12 courses, very small, but very tasty. Wine was very good.Service from Dale was friendly and helpful.Definitely a repeat visit for special occasions. Worked out very expensive, but maybe 3 bottles of wine for two explains a bit. They so should get a michelin star, it is of that standard. We have been to the Roux brothers restaurants and Le Manoir, so its up there with them, but very different, not big heavy courses.

“Experience to be recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

The waiter was very knowledgable and tentative to our needs. He kept the wine flowing, speaking of which was a Rioja at a very reasonable £30.00 a bottle. We had frogs legs and prawn cocktail for starter, both amazing but the prawn cocktail is very different from what u might expect which the waiter explained very well before we ordered. We chose the meat dish ( flint stones style!) which was salsify, potatoes in edible clay, cavolo nero, oxtail, fillet steak, and ox cheek.... Can't recommend this more highly.... Just writing about this I am drooling, wanting it again! We had Manchester tart and cheese to finish .. The atmosphere, decor service and food was superb. The only negative were the young ladies who escort diners down from the bar to the restaurant in the lift. They aren't rude or unpleasant in anyway, it's just their attire, in our opinion, was unnecessarily scant. Our feeling was it didn't really fit with the stylish and high end design of our entire evening and it would have been nicer and more fitting to have one of the very smart waiters/waitresses to do this

“Wonderful experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

We had a fantastic evening here to celebrate my birthday recently. The only slightly negative comment was about the coffee which was a bit weak- even for me. Everything else was wonderful - friendly informative staff, excellent service, fabulous food, interesting surroundings, good atmosphere! I would thoroughly recommend it and think the evening was worth every penny we spent, can't wait to go back!
