My sons treated me to an early Father's Day present and that was tickets to attend the second day Super League matches held on the Sunday as part of the Magic Weekend event. There were 3 separate matches being held on the day which meant there were lots of fans of all the teams playing. This also meant there was a fantastic atmosphere as they intermingled in spite of their allegiances.
I had been to the stadium before for music concerts but this time it was for Rugby League. The facilities in and around the stadium are very good with plenty of catering outlets inside and out. Our seats were in the second tier and the the seating was comfortable and the view of the playing pitch in all areas was unimpaired.
The organisers of the event laid on entertainment including a live rock band Conquer Rio.
Access to the stadium is good by either road or public transport.
The stadium was originally the venue for the Commonwealth Games before it became the home of Manchester City FC.
