“Lovely evening meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We have visited the Waterside before and found the service really poor as we had to wait so long for a meal hence it is about a year since we visited.

This time we were immediately shown to a table and the service was excellent. The waitresses were both friendly and efficient.
We didn't have to wait long for our food and the hotpot two of us selected was delicious as were the wines served.

We all enjoyed our meals and the venue is a convenient once for us with its own parking facilities.

“Sunday roast perfection!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

After deliberating on where to go for lunch we thought we would try here. I called up last minute to try and hopefully book at table. Phone was answered immediately. And luckily there was space available!

When we arrived we were 30 mins early, so decided to have a drink in the bar. Quickly served and took a seat, even though it was very busy there was room for us, lots of seating :)

The waitress came over a little after 5 mins that we had been there saying they are just making our table up and we could be seated early. Bonus! Also when there was a large group of people already sat down eating.

The menu came and we had the choice of sunday lunch and from the regular menu. Which was excellent as I was unsure of what I actually wanted. The sunday lunch won me over. I had the beef, with roast pots & yorkshire pudding and seasonal veg. Got some cauliflower cheese on the side also. My partner got the glazed gammon with mustard mash (not overpowering). So excited when they came out they looked delicious. We was not disappointed!!!! Served with a pot of gravy also. The service was quick to say how busy they were.

The food was just cooked to perfection! I can wait to go back for more!!! We had a dessert myself the cheese board and my partner the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Totally delicious both of them.

The whole round experience was amazing. Food delicious, customer service fantastic. Can't to get and try some more of the dishes.

Hi Hayley W

Thanks so much for your review, it is so good to read when our customers have had a good time here with us and that you and your partner enjoyed yourselves. Sundays are generally a busy time for us as it is our popular 'roasts' that we do have a great following for. Really glad that you both enjoyed your meals and indeed overall experience and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Waterside very soon. ( try our superb new steak stones, they are truly amazing, check our website out !!)

Thanks again

Warm regards

“Can't think why we don't eat here more often!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

For a reason that escapes me - or perhaps there isn't one - it had been some time since we had eaten at The Waterside up until last Sunday, when we had friends staying so went for Sunday lunch. We were welcomed like old friends and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. It seemed like a good idea to order the mustard mash and cauliflower cheese side dishes - and they were completely delicious - but our eyes were far bigger than our bellies (no mean feat!) and we were unable to do them justice. Just when you think you can't cram in another morsel, out comes the dessert menu. Sticky toffee pudding? Well, it would have been rude not to! We will most certainly be making plenty of return visits from now on!

“Not as good as it used to be”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

We used to really enjoy The Waterside. The food was good quality and excellent value and the service was good. We've taken friends and family there, and recommended it to countless people. Unfortunately though we've been increasingly disappointed.

On our last two visits the food has taken a really long time to (45 minutes). The Mushroom Wellington with rocket salad was very poor value at £12 - and our previous visit our order included the beef taco which was smaller than a typical starter but for twice the cost.

The breakfast is good and the beer garden is great on a sunny day, but with monton soon to have Albert Shed on the doorstep and the Blue Bell too I think we're unlikely to have an evening meal at The Waterside anytime soon.

Hi Andy

It is with regret that you did not enjoy your last visit here with us, unfortunately neither myself nor my business partner were made aware of your complaint and subsequently could do nothing about it. Everything here is freshly cooked to order, nothing is part cooked then served like some other establishments do and unfortunately dependant on how busy we are, sometimes some meals can take a little longer than anticipated, with that said, I have passed on your review to our chefs albeit we have changed the menu now for this season but should we decide to put some of the previous items back onto our menu next year, we would take your criticism onboard

I would however challenge your comment about the shredded beef in taco shells, I honestly have never seen 3 taco's stuffed full of crispy shredded beef and mixed leaves plus a side of shoe string fries as a starter portion!. If there is somewhere that you know that does this, please contact me under separate cover as I would love to visit the place to see what we are doing wrong

Your comment regarding the Bluebell doesn't phase us as we are a totally different business to them, with a totally different theme also, when Albert's Worlsey eventually opens, I will take a view on that then.

Again apologies for your last visit, but please fell free to speak to me with a view to us gaining back our credibility with you

Regards

“Pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013 via mobile

Was looking for a suitable place for a business lunch and dropped in here by chance. You don't get much of an impression from the car park as its best view is from the canal side.
Not a massive menu but what myself and four guests had was excellent.
A hidden gem.

Hi Wayne

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review and apologies for not replying sooner. Regrettably we do have to enter the car park from the rear of the building and as you say its not as pretty as the front but sadly there is nothing we can do about that albeit we certainly would if we could. Great to read that you enjoyed your lunch and we would love to welcome you back the next time you and or your colleagues are in the area.

Best regards
