“Amazing food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Its such a shame that Manchester hasn't taken to this place as the food is top notch. You can pretend you are in some French Cafe on your summer holidays. The menu is limited, thats the concept, but its such good quality and lovely favours it works.
Its a shame because as its never full it does lack atmosphere which brings the experience down but I'd return for the food. If it survives, otherwise I will have to make a trip to London!

“Oh dear.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

I visited this with colleagues on a mid week night. Whilst this is a very popular concept in London, the Manchester restaurant has absolutely zero atmosphere. The food is absolutely fine, but you don't just go to eat, you go to experience. I have never eaten in somewhere so utterly characterless. The service was slow, but there were about 8 diners apart from us, there was no music, no noise. It's a bit like eating sandwiches in a library. Not one i'll be hurrying back to.

Great salad to start, perfect steak & Frites, bottle of red wine. Perfect city lunch. No fuss just perfect every time . Good value too.

“Loved it - but it's not for everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

The positives to L'Entrecote are:
- it's a huge space with lots of tables for two crammed close together so its really easy for them to cater for parties of 2,4,6,8 etc without much rearranging of the furniture
- we were able to walk in off the street without a reservation at 8.30pm on a Saturday night and be seated and served straight away
- limited set menu takes the hassle out of choosing what to eat
- great wines, deserts and coffees

............... the one negative is if you don't eat red meat then this place is not for you.

Went on a 'date night' for two of us and loved it, it was just right for what we were looking for.

“Great, but not for everyone.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

If you weren't aware, there is only one starter (salad), two mains (steak & frites/cheese & frites) and a small selection of wines. Great care is taken to create an authentic French Brasserie experience - down to the cheap cutlery, glasses and plastic tablecloths. Service a little brusque.

Given that there was no choice, we were very pleased with the food, which arrived very promptly. Steak was delicious. Butter is not available with the bread, and ketchup is not available for the frites (although apparently you are allowed to bring your own!).
