“Rule Britania OUT!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

My family and I booked two rooms at this hotel following a flight home into Manchester airport. First impressions in need of modernisation and upgrading , check in staff were friendly and helpful however corridor to room had bags of dirty laundry lying about and this was at 2am , also stains on corridor carpets, the room itself was absolutely DISGUSTING there had been a previous spillage up the curtains and all over the carpet beside the bed, not a great look as it was RED!! Also thick dust on the lamp behing the very worn out chair. The bed was a very small double no way near big enough for two people to have a decent sleep , to be fair the bedding looked clean. The second room was a twin however when the children went in we couldn't get any lights to work as the electrics had apparently tripped, this was solved only to highlight the most awful room very worn and very very dirty bathroom was not clean. The lights only stayed an hour then they had to move rooms which wasn't great at 3am. I could not comment on the food or the drink as we certainly did not take the risk to try this out.

Room Tip: Seriously I would not stay in this hotel.

Disgusting hotel should be shut down, grubby, dirty, meals dreadful, service dreadful, waitresses chewing gum, staff that couldn't care less. Don't waste your money - used for long stay car park - impossible to get a park for your car.

stayed here thankfully for only 1 night before catching an early morning flight on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. Arrived around 9pm to find 4 people complaining to a manager and threatening to call the police about their stay. Hmm, good start. No-one at desk for 10 mins. Got room keys and took suitcases up to our room which had 2 single beds and there were 3 of us, right, need to get that sorted out. Did I mention the corridor our room was on??? That's because there are no words to describe it. I've never seen anything like it, I think that homeless hostels are probably better decorated and cleaner. Down for dinner before the restaurant closed. Pantomine! No staff, we joked that the manager was running into the office and changing jackets from receptionist/bar staff/manager/waiter. Opted for the buffet and it was okay. the waiter was helpful and brought our 6 year old grandchild a bowl of chips and ice-cream and substituted the bottle of wine in our deal for 2 soft drinks and a pint of beer. Now to get our room sorted out. I had to deal with the most unhelpful guy ever. Absolutely did not want to give us a room with 3 beds which we had clearly booked, even had the cheek to send someone upstairs to check we had not disturbed anything in the room we had been given!!! Finally we get the keys to a 3 bedded room. This was on a lower floor which was marginally slightly cleaner looking than the original one. OMG!!! The dirt in this room was unbelievable, I've seen cleaner carpets dumped at the side of the road waiting to be uplifted by the council!! Surprisingly the sheets were clean and the towels, although threadbare, were clean too. The bathroom was YUK! Bloodstains on the little bin and the toilet pan was one of those ones you didn't want to sit on, I rubbed it and the bin with wipes before any of us used it and you should have seen the dirt it lifted. Just when was it last cleaned?? I don't honestly know how Manchester City Council have not shut this down under Health and Safety, its a disgrace. The photos on their website? Cannot possibly be this hotel cos they do not resemble anything we saw. If you must stay here do not walk barefooted and take bleach and DTD with you cos we all got bitten whilst sleeping. NEVER AGAIN! Also beware of unlicensed pirate taxis cruising outside, we got picked up by one whilst waiting for our booked taxi.Truly the worst hotel we've ever been in. BEWARE!

Room Tip: JUST DON'T!!! Try and find something else, even a homeless hostel for down and outs would be cle...

Beware do not stay here as you will truely be sorry. I slept on top of bed in my close and hot out of there at 6;30 am in the morning. Everything was either broken or disgustingly dirty. TV didn't work. Place right next to highway. You are absolutely nuts if you stay here no matter how cheap.

It was 2am when we finally arrived at the Britannia Aiport Hotel Mancester, after our transfer failed to appear and it cost us £15 in a normal taxi. Nightshift receptionist took 15 minutes to finally give us our room key thouh on entering the room, we discovered it was already occupied by some poor bloke fast asleep. We were then given another room on the 6th floor, on entering this room we realised it had not been cleaned since the previous occupants, the bed unmade, windows open smelling of cigarette smoke and the toilet was not clean and un-flushed from the previous user. We picked our cases up and left, leaving us with a 3 hour drive home on top of a 12 hour journey. Unclean, unfriendly, the car park was not secure as we were able to get in our car and drive away without anyone stopping us. Never again!!!! Horror ending to a perfect holiday.

We arrived at the hotel at 1am after our flight got in and was only using the hotel so that we could get a sleep before our drive home! The room we were given was so dirty, I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel but there is no excuse for the filth that we seen! The bathroom had dirt all round the edges, hairs on the floor and pubic hairs in the bath! Paint was coming off the doors, the carpet in the main room was heavily stained and all round the edges of the room were thick with dust, like the cleaners (if u can call them that) didn't know how to use the nozzle of a Hoover! Was that disgusted by the carpet me and my partner didnt even want to stand on it in our bare feet ot shower in the morning, no way was i standing in that shower or using the towels!!! Would of just left if it wasn't now 2am and we were shattered! I know it's a cheap hotel but there is no need at all for the neglect of the place! Reception/bar area looks fine and pleasant when u first go in! We were on the 8th floor of the hotel! Would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Pretty basic hotel, not very pretty from the outside.

Reception staff were ok friendly enough and checked us in quickly and booked airport transfers (£6) each.

WE had booked a superior room on the basis of other reviews I decided to pay the extra £10 in the hope we would get a decent room. That worked. The room was fine I had no complaints really, it was basic but clean and the bed was comfortable, decent bathroom and we didn't hear too much noise.

We had a drink from the bar prices were reasonable. I also ordered room service which was reasonably priced and it arrived quickly. The food was really nice.

We checked out early as we had an early flight, check out was quick and the transfer arrived on time.

We were happy with what we paid for 1 night stay and a weeks parking £80.

Overall an average hotel within 10minutes of Manchester airport. Nothing flash but was fine for one night.

Only gripe was when we rang for airport transfers on arrival back into Manchester they said it would be 40 minutes which we weren't prepared to wait so we rang a taxi which cost us £11.
